A Tobago landscaper is expected to appear before a Scarborough Magistrate today, charged with the murder of Donald Parks.
Shauniel Charles, 22, of Old Ground Trace, was charged with murder on March 21st following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC, on that same date.
According to police reports, Mr Parks, 85, a businessman of Summer Hill, Plymouth Road, Scarborough, had just returned to his home, around 5:38 pm, on March, 12th when he was approached by a lone gunman.
The assailant pointed the firearm at the victim and shot at him twice. Mr. Parks sustained a gunshot wound to the head and died at the scene, while the assailant escaped on foot with a bag which was in the victim’s possession.
The accused was subsequently arrested by officers of the Scarborough Police Station, on March 13th when he visited the station in relation to another matter.
Investigations were supervised by ASP (Ag.) Kirk, of the Tobago Division, and Insp. (Ag.) Corrie, of Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region 2, while Charles was charged by PC Hector, of HBI Region 1, Tobago.
