Top COP establishes direct and confidential line for public

If you have information on crime, newly appointed commissioner of police Gary Griffith wants you to contact him directly.

Commissioner Griffith established a direct and confidential line of communication to enable members of the public to share information on criminal activities.

In a statement this afternoon, the police service said the new initiative is aimed at building public trust and confidence in the TTPS.

Commissioner Griffith is quoted as saying, there are many law abiding citizens who have information on criminals, murders and the entry of illegal guns and drugs into the country.

In establishing the direct line, commissioner Griffith is assuring persons who may be reluctant to come forward with information that their information would be treated with the strictest confidence and without any risk to their safety.

Mr. Griffith requested information on any pending serious criminal act to be committed and information on the perpetrators of a serious crime that has already taken place. He says it is an interim measure until a long-term system is developed.

The number is 482-Gary.
