Tortuga man arrested with drugs, ammo in Gran Couva

One man was arrested and quantities of marijuana and ammunition seized, by officers of the Gran Couva Police Station, during a road block exercise in the district, last night.

Officers conducted the exercise between 6:00pm and 10:00pm, at Indian Trail, Gran Couva, on Thursday 7th September, 2017, during which they had cause to stop and search a silver Nissan AD Wagon, being driven by a 32-year-old man of Gordon Village, Tortuga.

A search of the vehicle resulted in 1100 grammes of compressed marijuana being discovered.

Officers of the Couva CID later executed a search warrant at the home of the suspect, where they found 24 packets of compressed marijuana and 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

The drugs seized have a total weight of 12.9 kilogrammes and an estimated street value of $129,000.
