A Tropical Wave heading towards the Caribbean is expected to develop into a Tropical Storm this weekend, according to the National Hurricane Centre (NHC) in Miami.
The NHC is monitoring this wave as well as a Tropical Depression on its heels.
The National Hurricane Centre says showers and thunderstorms associated with the tropical wave located about 1100 miles east of the Windward Islands have become better organized since yesterday.
It says that environmental conditions are conducive for development, and a tropical cyclone is expected to form over the weekend.
It says Tropical Storm or Hurricane watches could be issued for portions of the Lesser Antilles on Saturday, and interests in those islands should closely monitor the progress of this system.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...high...70 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...90 percent.
The Met Office has said that Trinidad and Tobago is not under a Tropical Storm Watch or Warning.
