With the New Year only 10 days old, already there have been five road traffic fatalities recorded for the year 2020.

And the Trinidad  and  Tobago  Police  Service  (TTPS)  is  appealing  to  motorists  to exercise greater care and caution when driving on the nation’s roadways.

In an official statement, the TTPS notes that of those five fatalities already recorded, two of those have occurred in Tobago.

Even as it extended condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones in the recent fatal road accidents, the TTPS urged the motoring  public  to  take  greater  care  and responsibility when traversing the roadways, to ensure that no more lives are needlessly lost to road traffic accidents.

The Police Service is calling on the public to observe the essential aspects of road safety, namely: obey speed limits; use seat-belts; and adjust driving behaviours to adverse conditions.

The TTPS says as the country moves into  the  busy  Carnival  period,  it will  continue  to  enforce  road traffic laws to ensure safe and responsible road use.
