Two charged with coconut vendor's murder

Two men are expected to appear before a Sangre Grande Magistrate today, charged with the murder of 25-year-old Marcus Samuel, which occurred on Friday 17th August, 2018.

Kareem Brooks, a 24-year-old gardener, and Brandon Courtney aka ‘Monster’, a 19-year-old farmer, both of La Platta Gardens, Valencia, were additionally charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, SC, on Monday 22nd October, 2018.

Samuel, a coconut vendor, also of La Platta Gardens, Valencia, was found dead with several gun shots to his body at his home around 10:00pm on Friday 17th August, 2018, by his mother.

Both men were later arrested in connection with the incident at their respective homes, by officers attached to the Eastern Division Task Force, the next day.

Investigations were supervised by ASP (Ag.) Sean Dhillpaul and Sgt. Andrew Stanislaus, while WPC Cindy Diaz, all of Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region 2, laid the charges.
