Two held after shooting couple in house raid

Two men have been detained by police for questioning in connection with the attempted murder of a couple at their home in Biche on Sunday night.

According to a police report, at about 8 pm the couple - a 44-year-old man and his wife, 45 - was at their home at Fitts Road, when two men barged in and opened fire.

The man was shot in the chest while his wife was shot on the left foot.

The men then escaped in a black Nissan Juke.

The couple is said to be warded in a stable condition at the Sangre Grande District Hospital.

Police recovered over 16 spent shells in the couple's home.

A team of officers led by Inspector Garcia and Sgt Bhim responded and was able to intercept the suspects, ages 25 and 28 in the escape vehicle along the Cunapo Road, Biche.

Police said a loaded firearm and another with only one live round of 9mm ammunition were seized.

The suspects are from Upper Cemetery Street, Diego Martin.

Charges are yet to be laid.
