Police have detained 2 persons for questioning in connection with the online leak for hundreds of nude photographs earlier this month.
The photos were all obtained over a period of years from the social media accounts of women and under-age girls the photos have been shared online by a hacker who also uploaded the images to a pornographic website and attempted to sell the images.
CNC3 has been informed that the persons who were held yesterday are both employees of a cybercafé in east Trinidad.
Investigators have identified the cybercafé as site used to create the portal for the photos.
And Education Minister Anthony Garcia has since expressed serious concern over the nude photographs of the young women which were leaked.
It was also revealed that some of the women identified were past and current students of the University of the West Indies’ St Augustine and Cave Hill, Barbados campuses.
Questioned if the porn scandal was being investigated independently by the ministry as many of the victims were UWI students, the Education Minister said he had no information on the matter.
