Two persons were arrested in separate incidents and a pistol and quantities of ammunition were seized, by officers of the Central Division Task Force during anti-crime exercises conducted in the Freeport and Penal districts.
The exercises, supervised by Snr. Supt. Inraj Balram, were conducted between Monday 26th November and Tuesday 27th November, 2018.
In the first incident, officers proceeded to the McLeod Trace, Freeport home of a 34-year-old woman, where they executed a search warrant.
The search resulted in 12 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition being discovered in the ceiling of a bedroom of the house.
The woman who was found in the house at the time of the exercise was arrested in connection with the find.
Officers then proceeded to the Rock Road, Penal home of a 53-year-old man.
There, a search was conducted which resulted in one Bryco pistol loaded with two rounds of .38mm ammunition being discovered hidden in a shoe in a bedroom of the house.
The man was held in connection with the find.
Investigations are ongoing.
