Two KFC robbery suspects plead guilty, 3rd granted $700,000 bail

The three men who were arrested in connection with the robbery of a KFC outlet in Siparia on Friday, have appeared before the Siparia Magistrates’ Court, to answer to the charges.

Avin Khan aka ‘Kevin’, 20; Brent Lall aka ‘Crix’, 22; and Nicholas Francis aka ‘Nicko’, 25, all of San Francique Road, Penal, were jointly charged with robbery with aggravation and possession of a firearm.

Francis faces an additional charge of common assault.

All three men appeared before Magistrate Margaret Alert on Tuesday.

Francis and Khan pleaded guilty and were remanded into custody, while Lall pleaded not guilty and was granted $700,000 bail with surety.

The matter has been adjourned to Tuesday 20th November, 2018.

During the incident, around 10:40pm on the said date, an armed man wearing a hoodie entered the establishment and announced a robbery.

The suspect proceeded to steal the drawer of the cash register and make his escape.

A report was immediately made to police, leading officers of the Siparia Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to intercept a white Nissan AD wagon motor vehicle with three male occupants along Doorbassa Trace, San Francique Road, Penal.

A search of the vehicle resulted in officers discovering one pistol and a cash register’s drawer.

All three were taken to the Siparia Police Station, where charges were laid by PC Hansraj, of the Siparia CID.
