Two police officers have appeared before a Princes Town Magistrate, charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, against an unemployed Princes Town man, which is alleged to have occurred on Saturday 17th December, 2016.
No. 19130 PC Windesh Balgobin and No. 19238 PC Jeffery Jackman, of the Princes Town Criminal Investigations Department (CID), appeared before Magistrate Michelle Maharajh-Brown, in the Princes Town 1st Magistrates’ Court on Friday 4th May, 2018.
The matter has been adjourned to Tuesday 3rd July, 2018.
The officers were earlier granted bail in the sum of $120,000 each when they appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate on Thursday 3rd May, 2018.
The 28- year-old victim, of Princes Town, made a report to the Professional Standards Bureau (PSB) on Monday 19th December 2016, alleging that he was assaulted by the officers on Saturday 17th December, 2016.
The officers were charged by Cpl. (Ag.) Lawrence Joefield, of PSB, following advice received from the Director of Public Prosecution, Roger Gaspard, SC, on Tuesday 1st May, 2018.
