Wallerfield man detained by police for possession of gun and ammunition

A Wallerfield man was arrested and a pistol and quantity of ammunition seized, by officers of the Northern Division, during an anti-crime exercise, conducted in Cumuto last night. 

According to police reports, during the exercise, officers had cause to stop and search a black Nissan AD wagon with one male occupant. 

The search resulted in one black and silver Smith and Wesson pistol loaded with a magazine containing 13 rounds of .40mm ammunition, being discovered hidden under the driver’s seat.

 The suspect, a 28-year-old Wallerfield man was subsequently arrested in connection with the find. 

The exercise was coordinated by ACP McDonald Jacob and spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Michael Daniel.
