Owner of the Sunshine Newspaper, Jack Warner is standing by the newspaper's front page article, despite a threat of legal action from former prime minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
Warner posted a response on his Facebook page this afternoon, soon after the release of the pre-action protocol letter was disclosed by Persad-Bissessar's attorneys.
The following is Warner's statement:
"In spite of threats of legal action and reports in other media, the Sunshine Newspaper is standing by this week's front page story.
Whenever the Sunshine published our exposes in the past there were denials and then corroborating evidence would surface.
Just as an example, the Police Complaints Authority is recommending prosecution of persons with respect to the "green substance" matter.
The Sunshine will not be intimidated by last minute stunts of persons who are merely trying to survive the next 30 hours."
