The Water and Sewerage Authority says there will be more water shortages for Port-of-Spain customers over a 22-hour period beginning tonight.
The Authority has issued the following statement on the disruptions.
"The Water and Sewerage Authority advises customers in parts of Port-of-Spain and environs that there will be a disruption in their water supply from 8:00 p.m. tonight – Tuesday 2nd August to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday 3rd August 2016.
This has become necessary in order to carry out emergency repairs to a broken 21” transmission main, along Wrightson Road, Port of Spain, in the vicinity of the Light House.
Areas to be affected include:
* Southern part of Port of Spain, including Wrightson Road, Independence Square, as far north as Duke Street;
* Morvant and Barataria.
Customers are advised that following the completion of repairs, it may take between 2 to 4 hours for the service to normalize to affected areas.
Motorists travelling along the east bound lane of Wrightson Road, are also advised to proceed with caution in the vicinity of the job site and obey the instructions of the Police Officers on duty. As an alternative, motorists travelling east bound along Wrightson Road may use South Quay and Broadway to bypass the work area to access the Beetham Highway.
For further information or assistance, customers are asked to contact WASA’s Customer Call Centre toll free at 800-4420/4426.
The Authority apologises for the inconvenience and thanks customers for their patience and understanding."
