Weekend without water for POS and environs

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is advising customers in Port-of-Spain and environs that there will be an interruption in their pipe-borne water supply from 4 pm on Friday to 4 pm on Sunday.

WASA says this interruption is to facilitate the relocation of two transmission mains along the Beetham Highway, between the Lighthouse and Abattoir Road (in the vicinity of the PTSC compound).

The affected areas will include:

Downtown Port-of-Spain
St James
Parts of Woodbrook
Cascade
St. Ann’s
Belmont
Cocorite
Westmoorings

Customers are also being advised that it may take up to 12 hours for the scheduled pipe borne water supply to normalize to some affected areas, after the works have been completed.

TRAFFIC DIVERSION

Members of the public are further advised that there would be a temporary traffic disruption between the hours of 8 pm. on Friday to 2 am on Monday.

During this time, the East-Bound lane of the Beetham Highway will be closed between the Lighthouse and Abattoir Road with vehicles being diverted on to the West Bound Carriageway, where vehicular traffic will be permitted in both directions.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

Where possible, motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes including the Lady Young Road or South Quay to by-pass the work site to avoid traffic delays.

Motorists are also asked to proceed with caution in the vicinity of the jobsite and obey the instructions of police officers on duty.
