Woman held smuggling bullet into prison in sneakers

A fe­male vis­i­tor to the Max­i­mum Se­cu­ri­ty Prison in Arou­ca was yes­ter­day ar­rest­ed af­ter she was found at­tempt­ing to smug­gle a live round of am­mu­ni­tion hid­den in a pair of sneak­ers.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, some­time yes­ter­day the woman went to the prison say­ing that she was there to vis­it a 32-year-old in­mate who is cur­rent­ly serv­ing 24 months hard labour on a lar­ce­ny of­fence.

The in­mate is said to be a Ja­maican-born chef who has a lo­cal ad­dress in Mal­abar.

The re­port said the live round of am­mu­ni­tion was found hid­den in one side of a pair of black and white Nike Air Jor­dans.

The woman is cur­rent­ly in po­lice cus­tody at the Arou­ca Po­lice Sta­tion as­sist­ing in the in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
