Woman killed in highway accident near Chaguanas

A woman identified as Kathy Ann John is dead following a road traffic accident in Chaguanas on Friday night. 

Police say John was travelling in a white Nissan AD wagon driven by David Changwai.

She was seated in the front passenger seat when around 10.30 pm the driver lost control of the vehicle in the north-bound lane of the Uriah Butler Highway approximately 100 metres south of  Flowerline.

Petrotrin launches investigation into death of worker

State-owned Petrotrin has launched an investigation into the death of a worker at a well in Penal.

The company says it is seeking to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident.

Woman killed in Beetham accident

One woman is dead in a road accident along the East-bound lane of the Beetham highway.

The accident took place around 4 am.

It is believed that the victim, who is yet to be identified, lost control of her vehicle and ran off the road.

CNC3 has been told that others have been taken to the hospital.

We'll have further updates as more information comes to hand.

Police investigate hit and run accident this morning

Police are investigating a hit and run accident along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in the vicinity of the overpass.

According to reports, around 10:45 this morning, Javon Cox was in the passenger seat of a 3-tonne-truck proceeding east, when he realized the load being transported was becoming loose.

Cox informed the driver who then pulled onto the shoulder. Cox exited the truck to secure the load and it was at this point eye-witnesses say a white wagon ran into Cox and sped away.

Cox is being treated at hospital.

51-year-old Diego Martin man killed in accident

The husband of a councillor attached to the Diego Martin Regional Corporation, has been killed in an accident along the Diego Martin highway.

51-year-old Gerald La Touche was killed instantly when the vehicle he was driving collided with the concrete median while driving on the north-bound lane of the Diego Martin highway around 8 am Tuesday.

He was the husband of Councillor Gail La Touche.

Police say he was returning to his home after dropping off his sons at St Anthony’s College.

ATTIC calls for new measures as 30 die on roads this year

With 30 road deaths for the year already, the Association of Trinidad and Tobago Insurance Companies is calling for the implementation of several measures, including parents limiting young drivers on the nation's roads at nights.

The association issued a statement today also calling for increased police presence on the nation's roads and the erection of proper barriers on the highways.

American national killed in accident near Trincity Mall

An American citizen has lost his life and his wife is desperately trying to hold on to hers after the car in which they were travelling, collided with another near Trincity Mall last night.

The victim has been identified as Cecil White. 

Police say that around 11.40 last night, the victim and his wife were passengers in TAT 1764, when the vehicle attempted to turn onto the Trincity Central Road via the intersection at the mall.

It was trying to make that turn, that the car was hit by another vehicle. 

Labourer killed while trying to cross Solomon Hochoy Highway

A labourer was killed after being knocked down by a vehicle as he attempted to cross the Solomon Hochoy Highway in the vicinity of Chaguanas.

Reports indicate that Peter Ramlakhan who is said to be in his 50's, was crossing the North-bound lane of the highway around 10.45 pm, accompanied by his brother, Mootiram Ramlakhan.

The two Chase Village men had just dropped out of a vehicle on the South-bound lane of the highway.

Peter Ramlakhan crossed the highway first and was struck by a pick-up vehicle driven by a St Augustine man.

Traffic Warden injured

A female traffic warden is now hospitalised, after being struck by a vehicle while conducting her duties, this morning.
Eyewitnesses say the victim Mandisa Woods was positioned outside the Nicholas Court intersection when the incident occurred.
CNC3 news understands that around 6 30 am, a red s-u-v swerved off the roadway onto the pavement and struck Ms. Woods “head on”.
Eyewitnesses say Ms. Woods was pitched several meters as a result of the collision, she subsequently landed on a glass panel of the Nicholas towers building, the panel was shattered on impact.
