Charlieville man charged with gun & ammunition possession

A 52-year-old Charlieville man is due to appear before the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court after being arrested and charged for possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Deodath Balkaransingh aka ‘Sarram’, a labourer of the Chaguanas Borough Corporation, was arrested during an exercise conducted by officers of the Northern Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF) on Monday.

During the exercise, NEDTF officers along with members of the Canine Unit, executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home in East Charlieville.

Mac-10 sub-machine and ammo found in Las Lomas

A Sub-Machine Gun and Ammo has been Found in Las Lomas.
The discovery was made by officers of the Central Division Special Crime Unit, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Las Lomas district on Thursday. The exercise, spearheaded by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Inraj Balram, and ASP (Ag.) Richard Smith included officers of the Las Lomas Police Post and the Canine Unit and was conducted between 6:00 am and 2:00 pm.

Police find bag full of 5.56mm ammunition in Morvant

A quantity of ammunition was discovered by officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise in the Morvant district.

Acting on information, officers proceeded to a bushy area off Redhill Extension, Morvant, around 6:00pm on Tuesday 12th June, 2018, where a search was conducted.

There, they discovered a white plastic bag containing 31 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition.

No arrest was made in connection with the find.

61-year-old man remanded on charges of gun, ammunition possession

An Aripero man has been remanded into police custody after appearing before a Siparia Magistrate, charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Lennox Andrews, a 61-year-old cobbler, of Silver Stream Road, Aripero, South Oropouche, appeared before Magistrate Margaret Alert, in the Siparia 1st Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday 6th June, 2018, to answer the charges.

The matter has been postponed to Monday 11th June, 2018.
