A quantity of assorted ammunition was discovered by officers of the Stolen Vehicles Squad, during an anti-crime exercise in the Woodbrook district, early this morning.
Officers were on mobile patrol along Rosalino Street, Woodbrook, around 12:45am, on Tuesday 13th March, 2018, when they observed a man walking along the roadway.
Upon seeing the officers, the man jumped over a wall and made his escape.
A 29 year-old-man has been arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Police say the man was held after a chase at the St Paul Street, Clifton Towers Bldg 3, around 10:30 am.
Police say a Jericho 941 pistol and 13 rounds of 9 mm ammo were seized from the man.
The firearm, according to police, was found in the suspect’s trouser by members of the Inter-Agency Task Force Strike Team.
Police officers attached to the Scarborough police station seized a Bersa pistol, two bulletproof vests, USD43600 and TT$160, in counterfeit currencies during an anti-crime exercise on Tuesday.
The exercise, supervised by Cpl Lindrey Perry, was conducted around 10:45pm, during which officers proceeded to Spring Garden, Scarborough, where they conducted a search of a bushy area where the items were found.
No arrest was made in connection with the finds.
An Arima man was arrested yesterday after a quantity of ammunition and a pistol was found in the vehicle he was driving.
Police officers attached to the Arima CID noticed a Toyota Axio break a red light along the Demerara Road, Wallerfield.
The officers intercepted the vehicle and recovered a black Glock pistol, loaded with a magazine containing four rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The suspect is expected to be charged with dangerous driving, driving without a seatbelt, breach of a traffic light and disorderly behaviour.

Officers conducted the exercise between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm, on Friday, during which they received information of a person armed with a gun being observed in a track in the vicinity of Pump Trace, Laventille.
