Two police officers, along with a Venezuelan national, have been detained in connection with trafficking in persons and other gang related activities.
The trio were arrested during an anti-crime exercise overnight in the Central Division.
The officers, who are assigned to Central Division Police and also live in the area, had their respective homes and lockers at the station searched.
The home of the Venezuelan national also was searched.
An anti-crime exercise yesterday in Central Division has resulted in the seizure of several firearms and ammunition.
According to police reports, around 3.30 pm on Sunday, a party of officers attached to the Central Division proceeded to Union Village in Felicity near a public cemetery, where in a bushy area, they found a silver and black coloured metal object resembling a firearm.
Two men were arrested by officers of the TTPS’ Northern Division during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Maloney Policing District on Tuesday 21 January, 2020.
According to official police reports, while officers were conducting a search warrant at Maloney Gardens, they seized one Glock 17 pistol, fitted with a magazine and 13 rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition. Police also seized one kilogram of marijuana found at the premises.
A male occupant was arrested for the find.
An Anti-Crime Exercise conducted yesterday in the Northern Division has resulted in three persons being arrested, and the seizure of one round of 12-gauge cartridge, camouflage clothing and an army jacket and trousers.
An official statement from the TTPS explains that during the exercise, officers executed a search warrant at a house in Hilltop Drive, Maturita Extension, Arima, where the items were found and seized, and the two male occupants of the house at the time of the search were arrested.

The exercise was conducted between 3:00am and 8:00am on Sunday 19th January 2020.
Official police reports state that officers executed a search warrant at the Jacob Hill, Wallerfield, Arima home of a 25-year-old suspect.
The search resulted in officers finding one revolver loaded with four rounds of ammunition.
Central Division Police Officers continued their crackdown on illegal guns and drugs with another anti-crime exercise on Thursday 16 January 2020.
During the exercise, officers proceeded to Bolai Trace East, Chase Village, where they conducted a search of a bushy area, which resulted in the discovery of two revolvers and three rounds of ammunition.
Quantities of marijuana and cocaine also were found.
Seven people were arrested on various offences, including for rape and attempted murder in police exercises conducted in South and North Trinidad.
According to a police report, the anti-crime exercise was conducted in the St Joseph and South Western Districts between 9 pm on Thursday and 5.30 am on Friday.
It was supervised by Inspector Hernandez and Sergeant Thomas (Ag), and included a party of police officers from the St Joseph Criminal Investigations Department and the Northern Division's Crime Suppression Unit.
Two suspects remain in police custody in relation to a kidnapping incident, following an anti-crime exercise in the Cumuto district yesterday, conducted by the recently launched Road Policing Task Force (RPTF).

According to official police reports, at about 7:00 pm, on Sunday 22 December, officers proceeded to the home of a 26-year-old male suspect in Chanka Trace, El Socorro.
There, they conducted a search, which resulted in the discovery of one Ruger pistol fitted with a magazine containing five rounds of ammunition in the man’s possession.
Investigations are ongoing.
