Amara Reason, the two-year-old girl who was struck by a vehicle in Arima on Saturday has died.
The toddler, who was in critical condition and on life support at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex Paediatric Hospital in Mount Hope passed away at about 3.30 am.
Police have seized a pistol and eight rounds of ammunition in Arima.
According to reports, around 5 am today, officers of the Northern Division Task Force Area East spearheaded by Sgt Mascall, Cpl Gentle, P.C. Brewster, Wpc Caruth and P.C. Richards together with K9 officers executed a search warrant at an estate property at L’Orange Road Heights of Aripo Road Arima where a pistol along with eight (8) rounds of 9mm ammunition was found and seized.
Homicide officers are probing a double murder in Pinto, Arima.
The murders come just hours after another resident in the area, Brent Edwards was shot and killed.
In the latest incident, investigators say two men identified as Cowin Williams and Enrique Lochin were ambushed and shot by a gunman.
The two died on the spot.
Police are yet to determine if the murders are all connected.
Two Arima men pleaded not guilty when they appeared before the Rio Claro Magistrates’ court today, charged with possession of TT$11,500 worth in marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
George La Rode, 60, of Pinto Road, Arima, and Linton Dyer, 21, of Malabar, Arima, were each granted $150,000 bail with surety when they appeared before Magistrate Indira Misir-Gosine on Thursday 30th August, 2018.
The matter has been postponed to Friday 21st September, 2018.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is seeking the urgent assistance of the public in locating 13-year-old Nicholi Hodge.
Nicholi, a student of D’Abadie Government Primary School, was last at his Clever Heights, Arima home, around 5 pm, on Saturday 26th May, 2018.
He was reported missing to the Arima Police Station, on Sunday 27th May, 2018, by his mother, Donna Basilon.
Nicholi is of mixed descent, five feet six inches tall, slim built with a brown complexion and high-top hairstyle.
A Malabar man is expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate tomorrow, charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, after being arrested during an anti-crime exercise in the Arima district, yesterday.
Maurice Koon Koon, 47, of Koon Koon Trace, Malabar, was arrested around 9:30 am on Tuesday 15th May, 2018, by officers of the Arima Crime Patrol, while driving along the Eastern Main Road, Arima.
