Three people have been arrested for the robbery that took place at a supermarket in Sangre Grande last weekend.
Reports are that last Sunday, thieves stole a safe at the Good Luck Supermarket located at Railway Road, Guaico. It contained over TT$30,000 and US$4000.
Police said the suspects, ages 25, 27, and 32 years, were held during a police operation conducted by officers assigned to the Eastern Division’s Special Operations Unit this week, between Monday and Thursday.
One man and four female Venezuelan nationals were arrested and three homemade shotguns and over 200 rounds of assorted ammunition seized by officers of the Rio Claro CID, during an anti-crime exercise in the district.
The exercise was conducted between 2 pm and 9 pm, on Tuesday 20th March, 2018, and included officers of the Rio Claro Crime Patrol Unit.
During the exercise, the officers executed a search warrant at the Dades Settlement, Rio Claro home, of a 37-year-old labourer.
The suspect wanted in connection with the murder of a soldier and the wounding of another man in Gasparillo last week Thursday, has been arrested.
Police said in a tweet that the arrest occurred around 4:30 pm today in the Erin district.
He was held by officers of the Southern Division under Supt. Zamsheed Mohammed and the South Western Division under Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Neville Adams, with assistance from Special Branch, Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 3, the OCIU and the SSA.
Clint Rivers, one of the five people released by police on Thursday after being held for six days in connection with a terror threat on Carnival 2018, will be pursuing legal action.
This was disclosed yesterday by his attorney Wayne Sturge at the San Fernando High Court, where the habeas corpus writ was declared spent as Rivers was released. Justice Ricky Rahim, however, ordered that the state pay legal costs.

A male flight attendant employed with Caribbean Airlines Limited and a woman, were arrested and a pistol and a quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Eastern Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise in Sangre Grande over the weekend, police said in a statement.
Officers conducted the exercise around 8 pm on Sunday 31st December, 2017, during which they had cause to search a black Audi A4 motor vehicle which was parked with two occupants opposite the Sangre Grande Police Station.
A group of Cuban nationals who have been protesting outside the United Nations’ office in Port-of-Spain has been arrested.
The five women and four men, all of Cuban nationality were arrested just after 5.30 Wednesday afternoon and are expected to be charged with obstruction of a public passageway.
Corporal Billy Ramsundar is tonight charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Guardian photographer Kristian De Silva, a police statement said Wednesday.
He is also charged with malicious damage of a Canon camera valued US$1600.
