Al-Rawi: I made no inquiry about Marlene’s impending arrest

Al­though ad­mit­ting that Port-of-Spain South MP Mar­lene Mc­Don­ald in­quired whether he knew of an in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­to her, At­tor­ney Gen­er­al Faris Al-Rawi de­nies mak­ing any queries to the po­lice.

Al-Rawi said a few months be­fore Mc­Don­ald was ar­rest­ed in a cor­rup­tion in­ves­ti­ga­tion last month, she ap­proached him in the Par­lia­ment.

Speak­ing to re­porters at Skin­ner Park yes­ter­day, he said Mc­Don­ald told him as a mat­ter of fact that Op­po­si­tion Leader Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar had in­formed the MP about her im­pend­ing ar­rest.

At­tor­ney Gen­er­al Faris Al-Rawi ceased to be a di­rec­tor of Za­man En­ter­pris­es Ltd just three weeks be­fore it be­gan talks to lease of­fice space to the Gov­ern­ment.

Ac­cord­ing to com­pa­ny reg­is­tra­tion doc­u­ments re­ceived yes­ter­day, Al-Rawi ceased to be a di­rec­tor of Za­man En­ter­pris­es on No­vem­ber 8, 2018 and was re­placed by his rel­a­tive Abra­ham Al-Rawi.

Three weeks lat­er, Al-Rawi's wife, Mona Na­hous and the Gov­ern­ment re-opened dis­cus­sions about leas­ing the of­fice space for three years.
