2-month-old baby found dead in crib

Police will be eagerly awaiting the result from the autopsy on 44-day-old Javon Mahabir at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, today.

Mahabir was found unresponsive by his parents on Saturday.

Police reported that his mother Wendy Mahabir, 35, of Nurse Street, Newlands, Guayaguayare, reportedly put him to bed on Friday night and reported nothing untoward during the course of the day.

However, around 4 am on Saturday, Mahabir found him unresponsive in his crib, with fluid coming from his nose and mouth.

International: Duchess of Cambridge gives birth to baby boy

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, gave birth to a baby boy on Monday morning, according to Kensington Palace, touching off widespread jubilation across Britain. Her husband, Prince William, 35, was by her side for the birth of their third child.

“The baby weighed 8lbs 7oz,” Kensington Palace said in a tweet.

“The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”

According to tradition, news of the birth was later displayed on an easel in front of Buckingham Palace.

18-month-old baby fatally run over by dad's car

A Valencia family was last night mourning the tragic death of 18-month-old toddler Ilena Mansoor, after she was accidentally run over by a pick-up driven by a relative at the family’s home yesterday.

The T&T Guardian understands the parents were very distraught and were yet to give full statements to the police on what happened.

Police probe suspicious death of 5-month-year old baby

A five-month-old baby has died in still unclear and suspicious circumstances in Laventille.

According to information from police, the father of the baby woke up around 4.30 am this morning to find the baby face down in a bucket.

The infant we are told was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where the child was pronounced dead.

Information reaching CNC3 is that the parents are in police custody while an autopsy is done today to conclusively determine the cause of death.

Father delivers baby at home

In an unexpected twist of events, 33-year-old Kwame Regis was forced to deliver his own baby boy at home, a feat which has left him and his common-law wife, Doreen Roopa, calling newborn Ezekiel a “miracle baby.”

The drama unfolded between 5 and 6 pm last Wednesday in the couple’s Mary Street, Aranguez apartment, which they share with Roopa’s two-year-old daughter, Destiny, and her (Doreen’s) sister, Nalene, 24.

Biche police deliver baby at station

Officers on duty at the Biche Police Station were in for an unexpected surprise visit this morning.

The officers were called upon to deliver a baby which they did successfully and for which they have been praised.

The mother has not hey been identified, but we're told that she's 29 years old and lives at Libertville, Rio Claro.

She went to the police station at 5.30 this morning and by the time she got to there her contractions intensified and she went into labour.
