BP Renegades have topped Panorama's large steel orchestra semi-finals competition.
The results were posted to Pan Trinbago's Facebook page late last evening.
The defending champions eclipsed Republic Bank Exodus and Desperadoes, who both tied for second place, by two points.
Renegades' selection "Wrong Again" earned the band 283 points.
Renegades will be hoping for a hat-trick win at the finals, carded for Saturday 22nd February, at the Queen’s Park Oval.
Rounding out the top five finalists were: Hadco Phase Two Pan Groove and Massy Trinidad All Stars.
When the bell for the National Panorama Medium and Large Bands Finals rings, Arima Angel Harps and bp Renegades will be first off the block in their respective categories on Saturday 10 February, 2018 at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Showtime is at 7 pm.
Themed “Steel Crescendo…..Musical Explosion and Rivalry”, the Pan Trinbago produced flagship event has been described as the “Super Bowl of Pan” featuring ten (10) Medium and ten (10 ) Large Conventional Bands. Both Pan Elders and Massy Trinidad All Stars will be defending their titles.
Bp Renegades has topped the preliminary round of the National Panorama Large Band competition.
The band playing Duvonne Stewart arrangement of “Year For Love” accumulated 264 points, two (2) points more than the second-placed Skiffle and Phase II Pan Groove (tie 262) for their renditions of Kess’ “Hello”.
Pan Elders, defending champs, scored the most points in the Medium Band category with an aggregate of 265 points.
They were followed by Petrotrin Katzenjammers, Courts Sound Specialists of Laventille and Power Stars.
The three tied with 258 points each.
