Todd's Road Welcomes Ground Upgrade

The Todd’s Road community recreation ground was officially handed over on Tuesday afternoon in Central Trinidad.

The upgrades included field works, drainage and the erection of a cricket net and bleachers, and was overseen by the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago. In accepting responsibility for the ground, chairman of the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation Henry Awong stressed the importance of sport for social cohesion and as a deterrent to crime.

Water disruptions in parts of Central Trinidad tomorrow

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is advising customers served by the Carlsen Field Water Treatment Plant that there will be an interruption in their water supply on Wednesday 28th June 2017, between the hours of 8 am and 8 pm.

WASA says this has become necessary in order to facilitate planned maintenance works at the plant.

The affected areas will include:

§ Carlsen Field including Sou Sou Lands

§ Thompson Road

§ Cashew Gardens

§ Arena Road including Uquire Road and all side streets

§ La Quesa Road

§ Upper Siewdass Road

16 to spend long-weekend behind bars following police exercises in Central

Sixteen persons were arrested during anti-crime exercises in the Central Division, which also saw the seizure of firearms, ammunition and narcotics, a police statement said.

A total of eight exercises were conducted between 11:35 am and 8:00 pm on Wednesday 14th June, 2017, by officers of the Central Division Task Force, Chaguanas CID, Freeport CID and Canine Branch.

Officers, acting on information, first proceeded to Mulchan Seuchan Road, Chaguanas, where they arrested a 36-year-old tradesman, of Petit Valley.

Water disruption in parts of Central Trinidad on Tuesday

Water disruptions in Central, South-West Trinidad

The Water and Sewerage Authority is advising customers in Central and South-West Trinidad served by the Point Lisas Desalination Plant of a disruption in their normal water supply from today - Monday 12th September to Wednesday 14th September, 2016.

The plant is owned and operated by the Desalination Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited.

WASA says the interruption is due to a collapsed pipeline that occurred at the Point Lisas Desalination Plant .

It says that operations at the plant have been stopped as emergency repair works are currently being carried out.

Man held with .38 revolver, six rounds of ammunition

Police have arrested a 26-year-old man in Central Trinidad with an unlicensed firearm and six rounds of ammunition.

A statement from the police says the arrest was made after police intercepted a vehicle in Claxton Bay.
