Warner testifies for Chaguanas vendors

For­mer gov­ern­ment min­is­ter and Ch­agua­nas West MP Jack Warn­er has tes­ti­fied on be­half of street ven­dors from Ch­agua­nas, who are chal­leng­ing a pro­pos­al to evict them from a tem­po­rary lo­ca­tion which they have been oc­cu­py­ing for al­most eight years.

Warn­er took the wit­ness stand be­fore Jus­tice Kevin Ram­cha­ran, at the Hall of Jus­tice, in Port-of-Spain as the ven­dors’ law­suit against the Ch­agua­nas Bor­ough Cor­po­ra­tion be­gan yes­ter­day.

Woman murdered in Chaguanas - attorney's secretary found with throat slit

Police are currently on the scene of a murder at Ramasaran Street in Chaguanas, where a woman is the victim.

She has been identified as Nicole Debideen.

Reports indicate that the woman was the secretary of an attorney-at-law and was found with her throat slit.

Police are currently on the scene and we'll have more when we get it.

$200,000 bail for Chaguanas man on gun & ammo charges

A Chaguanas man has appeared before a Siparia Magistrate today, charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, after being arrested by officers of the South Western Division Task Force (SWDTF).

Travis Sinanan, 35, an Operating Supervisor for Paramount Transport Ltd., of Palmiste Village, Chaguanas, appeared before Magistrate Margaret Alert in the Siparia 1st Magistrates’ Court, on Monday 11th June, 2018, to answer the charges.

Sinanan was granted $200,000 bail with surety and the matter was postponed to Friday 8th July, 2018.

Police officer shot, bandit killed following Chaguanas robbery

A police officer is currently hospitalized, and a robbery suspect dead, after an exchange of gunfire between police and suspects linked to an armed robbery of a Chinese restaurant at Chaguanas earlier today.

Officers attached to the Central Criminal Investigations Department (CID), went to a house at Pierre Street, Enterprise, around 12:10 pm on Wednesday 25th April, 2018, to conduct enquiries relating to the robbery of a Chinese establishment at Eleanor Street, Chaguanas, which occurred around 10 am today.

Chaguanas Mayor to crack down on illegal drag racing

Chaguanas Mayor Gopaul Boodhan says he intends to stamp out illegal drag racing in the borough after receiving complaints that the stretch of roadway on the northern side of the Ministry of Agriculture head office and along Connector Road, Charlieville are being used as drag strips at nights.

“This cannot be tolerated and it’s illegal, I am asking for people to refrain from this activity or feel the full brunt of the law. There are too many accidents and road deaths across T&T,” Boodhan said during an interview at the Borough head office on Friday.

Police investigate abduction of teenager in Chaguanas

Chaguanas police are investigating an abduction of a 17-year-old boy.

Reports indicate that on Tuesday, the boy was walking along the road when a vehicle with two men pulled along him.

The boy was allegedly forced into the vehicle.

He was held for about two and a half hours.

The teenager was subsequently dropped off and contacted the police and his parents.

He claimed the men attempted to sexually assault him.

Police are continuing investigations.


Murder in Enterprise

Police are on the scene of a murder in enterprise Chaguanas.

Reports are still sketchy but CNC3 news understands that just after 8 am residents of Amow Street reported hearing loud explosions.

Upon investigations, they discovered the body of a man lying in a pool of blood.
