A 66-year-old Chaguanas man is expected to appear in the Chaguanas 1st Court today, charged with the murder of Enid Rosaline Perina, which occurred on Saturday 27th May, 2017.
Pooran Ragoo, aka ‘Bato Ragoonanan’, a vendor, of Pierre Village, Chaguanas, was charged with murder, after advice was received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan HonorePaul, on Monday 12th June, 2017.
Perina, 61, of Boyie Trace, Madras Road, St. Helena, who had lived with the accused for four months, was chopped and stabbed to death at her home, on May 27th, 2017.
Police are seeking the urgent assistance of the public in locating 16-year-old Jonathan Richardson.
Jonathan, a Form 4 pupil of the Barataria South Secondary School, was last seen at his Edinburgh South 500, Chaguanas home, around 9:00pm on Thursday 8th June, 2017.
He was reported missing to the Chaguanas Police Station, around 6:20pm on Saturday 10th June, 2017, by his father, Anthony Simon.
Jonathan is of African descent, 4 feet 8 inches tall with a brown complexion and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a green jersey and pair of black track pants.
A man who was found dead in Chaguanas earlier today has been identified as ex-convict, Eddie Phillip.
Phillip’s body was found bound and gagged in an abandoned vehicle along Gail Street close to midday.
Police suspect Phillip was kidnapped and was attempting to escape when he was shot in the head.
A shootout with armed bandits, along Endeavour Road, Chaguanas, ended with the arrest of seven persons and the seizure of a pistol, a quantity of ammunition and two fake guns, police say in a statement.
The drama unfolded around 11:45 pm on Thursday 8th June, 2017, when officers of the Cunupia CID, on mobile patrol in the Cunupia district and acting on information, intercepted a white AD wagon, with seven male occupants.
The suspects were allegedly on their way to rob a bar at Jerningham Junction, Cunupia.
Police have arrested a car dealer from Central Trinidad for allegedly breaching a protection order.
The arrest came as police investigate a domestic violence case involving the man and his wife.
Police went to the man's home today and detained the man who is now at the Chaguanas Police Station.
He had been previously charged with a domestic violence offence at which time the protection order was put into effect by the court.
While all charges had been dropped against the man the protection order remained in place.
Qenusa McQueen, the 15-year-old of Chaguanas, who was reported missing by her father, Kenneth McQueen, on Monday 9th May, 2017, has been found.
Police did not give much information about the circumstances but say they thank the public for its assistance in ensuring the teenager’s safe return.
