Shotgun found in mangrove swamp

A 12-gauge shotgun was found in a mangrove swamp in Chaguanas yesterday, by officers of the Central Division Task Force, a statement by the Police Service said.

The officers acting on information, proceeded to Bernard Road, Felicity, Chaguanas, where they conducted a search of a river bank, around 6:30 pm on Wednesday 10th May, 2017. 

The firearm was found partially submerged in the river.

No arrests were made in connection with the find. 

30-year-old woman shot dead in car

A 30-year-old woman has been shot and killed.

Melissa Ramkissoon was in a vehicle with two men known to her when an argument ensued between Ramkissoon and one of the men in the vicinity of the Felicity Main Road, Chaguanas.

The man allegedly whipped out a gun and shot the woman who was at the time in the front passenger seat.

Ramkissoon's attacker subsequently fled the scene by jumping out of the vehicle.

The other man present in the vehicle drove to the Chaguanas Police Station with Ramkissoon's body in the vehicle.

Seales against permanent police station in Enterprise

The proposed police station in crime-torn Enterprise community is being described as a plaster on a sore by Police Service Social and Welfare Association president Insp Michael Seales.

Speaking about the proposal yesterday, Seales said the Longdenville Police Post and the Chaguanas Police Station were already in close proximity to the community and would allow police to respond to any issue there.

Missing Chaguanas woman found dead

Police are investigating the discovery of a woman's body in an open field in Petersfield, Central Trinidad.

Police say the tattoos on the body fit the description of the missing 23-year-old woman, Sharlene Somai.

Somai went missing on around 7.30 pm Tuesday from her Petersfield Main Road, Chaguanas home.

She recently opened a food place in Valsayn.

Pregnant woman dies in accident

A 22-year-old pregnant woman has been killed in a vehicular accident.

The accident occurred around 7 pm on Wednesday.

The driver of a Hyundai Elantra was proceeding west along Soogrim Road, Endeavor, Chaguanas when she observed a vehicle proceeding east trying to overtake another.

The driver of the Elantra pulled to her right to avoid colliding with the car but slammed into a Toyota Corolla.

Rochelle St Louis, a front seat passenger in the Toyota Corolla vehicle was killed upon impact.

Man shot dead in Chaguanas

Central Division police are investigating a shooting which took place on Wednesday night along Railway Road, Chaguanas.

According to initial reports, the shooting incident took place at about 10 pm on Wednesday in a popular bar along the roadway.

The man was said to have been inside the bar, when he was confronted by another individual.

Several loud explosions were then heard, and the armed man was seen fleeing the scene.

The man who was shot collapsed and succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Two wounded in Chaguanas shooting incident

Two men have been hospitalised after being shot in Chaguanas this morning.

Police say that around 4:30 am Monday, officers of the Chaguanas Police Station were alerted by loud explosions.

They investigated and observed a silver Mitsubishi Lancer parked in an easterly direction along Railway Road, Chaguanas in the vicinity of the Chaguanas Police station.

Police say one man, Davidnand Deosaran of 30 Feeder Road, Charlieville, was seated behind the driver's seat bleeding from his mouth.

Search on for Chaguanas PH driver who abducted UWI student

Police are searching for the driver of a red car that is used to conduct PH taxi services in Chaguanas in connection with the abduction of a female UWI student.

The student, who remains unidentified, reported to police that she was on her way home when she boarded the red car to head to Chaguanas from Curepe last night.

The driver abducted the girl but eventually set her free after she started crying.
