GBV Unit already getting calls for help

The newly constituted Gender-Based Violence Unit (GBVU) in the T&T Police Service (TTPS) reports that already, it has begun to get calls from persons needing their assistance and are working on cases.

And head of the Unit, ASP Claire Guy-Alleyne, promises that persons coming to them for assistance, will meet officers who are sensitive to their trauma.

Children's Authority sets up base in Tobago

The Children's Authority is planning to set up a base in Tobago by the end of September.
Speaking during the rapidfire kid's foundation dinner last evening, the authority's Chairman Hanif Benjamin said in the last two years there were 260 reported cases of child abuse in Tobago. But speaking with cnc3 news, Mr Benjamin said he is also concerned with the cases that go unreported. He said two centres in Tobago should address that.

Children's Authority counsels children found drugged and naked in van

The Children's Authority is providing counselling to two girls who were kidnapped and found naked inside a van.

The two girls, aged 9 and 14 were rescued by police when they found naked, drugged and kidnapped in the van that was parked in a cane field.

The suspect, who was in the driver's seat is in police custody.

The Authority’s Emergency Response Team visited the family last evening and provided support to the children and their mother.
