Police in Mumbai, India have arrested a 46-year-old woman and her 25-year-old daughter, for smuggling cocaine worth ₹1.50 crore (TT$1.5 million).
The arrests were made by the Mumbai Unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
The drugs were sent by courier from Trinidad and Tobago, said an NCB officer.
The woman was arrested while she was receiving the parcel – which contained 360 grams of cocaine – at Nagpur.
“The drug was concealed inside eyeshadow palette boxes,” said a senior NCB officer.
Five persons are expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate, jointly charged with possession of 38.8 kilogrammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, which have an estimated street value of $34.72 million.
Venezuelan national Jimmy Alejandro Tapiero Hernandez, 27, was arrested for possession of a firearm and $4.3 million in cocaine on Tuesday by officers of the Penal Criminal Investigations Department and South Western Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise.
According to police reports, officers were surveilling an area along Boleau Beach Road, Icacos Village, Cedros, when they observed a man disembark from a white boat along the shoreline with a black and grey knapsack, he then proceeded to a bushy area.
A pregnant woman yesterday appeared in court charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Mother of two Melissa Pancham, 32, was arrested at a market stall along Guaracara Tabaquite Road, Williamsville, on Tuesday. It is alleged that she had 27 grammes of cocaine in her possession. The street value of the drugs was estimated at $2,000. She was charged by PC Maltoo.
Pancham initially pleaded guilty when the charge was read to her by Senior Magistrate Cherril-Anne Antoine in the San Fernando First Court.
A Williamsville vendor has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Melisa Pancham, 32, of Kumar Village, Williamsville, was arrested and charged by officers of the Marabella Police Station, during an anti-crime exercise in the Gasparillo district on Tuesday 17th April, 2018.
During the exercise, Sgt. Keith Ifill, Cpl Narine Bisnath and a party of officers were on patrol along the Guaracara Tabaquite Road, Ben Lomond at 3:30 pm, when they had cause to carry out a search of a stall being operated by a vendor.
A 42-years-old St Helena man was denied bail after he appeared before a Tunapuna Magistrate on Tuesday, charged with possession of 2.2 kg of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The drugs had an estimated street value of TT$1 million.

A Surinamese national appeared before an Arima Magistrate today, charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, after being held by officers of the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit (OCIU), at the Piarco International Airport, yesterday.
A Couva man was arrested and a firearm seized, by officers of the Central Division, during an anti-crime exercise in the Couva district yesterday, police said in a statement.
A quantity of cocaine and ammunition were also seized during the exercise which was conducted around 2:45 pm on Monday 6th November, 2017, in California, Couva.
Officers executed a search warrant at the Steven Street, Couva, home of a 38-year-old man, who was found to be in possession of a Glock pistol, loaded with a magazine containing 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
