Maloney man to appear in court for gun, ammunition possession

A Maloney man will appear before an Arima Magistrate on Tuesday 6th June, 2017, for possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Shaquille Charles, 21, was held during an anti-crime exercise, which took place in the Maloney District from of 12 pm on Saturday 3rd June, 2017 to 12 am on Sunday 4th June, 2017, a police statement said.

Acting on information received, officers of the Maloney Police Station arrested and charged Charles of Building 5, Maloney Gardens, for possession of one black Colt .45 pistol and seven rounds of .45 ammunition.

Sheron to spend night in jail

Car dealer Sheron Sukhdeo will spend the night in prison as he has been refused bail on a charge of breaching a protection order.

Sukhdeo, 28 of Caroni Savannah Road, Chaguanas appeared before magistrate Wendy Dougdeen-Bally today.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

His attorney Taradath Singh requested bail for Sukhdeo and the magistrate asked for his passport be produced.

He will return to court on Thursday at which time the court expects to receive his passport to allow the magistrate to make a decision.

Morvant man in court for murder of Arouca mini-mart owner

Keron James, a labourer employed with the Ministry of Works, appeared before an Arima Magistrate today, charged with the murder of Arouca mini-mart owner, Lleron Alexander.

The accused, 24, of Never Dirty, Morvant, who was also charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, stood before Senior Magistrate Gillian Scotland, in the Arima 1st Magistrates’ Court, to answer the charges.

The matter has been adjourned to Wednesday 14th June, 2017.

Court merciful to Venezuelan who entered country illegally to buy food

Unable to get food to feed his three children as his country remains in turmoil, a Venezuelan man sneaked into the country on a boat to buy food, but was caught and charged for entering the country illegally.

After Luis Benitez, 34,  explained his situation yesterday, San Fernando Fourth Court Magistrate Indira Missir-Gosine gave him a chance and reprimanded and discharged him.  This means that no conviction will be recorded against him.

The charge laid by Cpl Howard alleged that on Friday April 21 he illegally entered T&T.

72-year-old woman charged with possession of Ruger pistol

A 72-year-old woman of Phase 2, La Horquetta, will appear in the Arima Magistrates’ Court today, charged with possession of a Ruger .9mm pistol.

A Police Statement said that Lerevlis Stanley, was arrested by officers of the La Horquetta Police Station, for possession of the firearm, which was found during the execution of a search warrant at her home, around 9:15 pm on Friday 5th May, 2017.

A warrant has since been issued for the arrest of the woman’s 42- year-old son, who resides at the same address.

Wallerfield man charged with double murder

A Wallerfield man is to appear before the Arima 1st Magistrates’ Court, charged with the murders of Stephen Tyrell and Kamau Charles, aka ‘Sap’.

Mikhail Mohammed, aka ‘Boxer’, 28, of Mexico Road, Wallerfield, was charged with the murders, after advice was received from the Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, SC, on Friday 14th April, 2017.

Three charged with murder of Enterprise man

Three men appeared in the Siparia 1st Magistrates’ Court today, charged with the murder of Kendall Kerry Trimm.

The accused are also charged with robbery with violence, possession of a firearm and ammunition and shooting with intent.

Donniel Roberts, 35, of Annabella Street, Couva, Aziz Shah, 26, of Springvale, Claxton Bay and his brother, Aleem Shah, 19, of the same address, stood before Senior Magistrate Armina Deonarinesingh to answer the charges.

$250,000 bail for Cunupia man charged with robbery with aggravation

A 22-year-old Cunupia man was granted $250,000 bail, after appearing before a Chaguanas Magistrate today, charged with nine counts of robbery with aggravation.

Justin Heeraman, of Chin Chin Road, Cunupia, stood before Senior Magistrate Jo-Anne Connor and was not called upon to plead, as the charge was laid indictably.

Heeraman, was arrested and charged on Sunday 9th April, 2017, by officers of the Cunupia Police Station, in connection with the robbery of a proprietor and patrons of a bar in Cunupia, on April 4th, 2017, of $38,000 worth in valuables.

Two brothers in court for murder of Deoraj Bedassie

Two Barrackpore brothers appeared in the San Fernando First Magistrates’ Court today, charged with the murder of 52-year-old Deoraj ‘Bredo’ Bedassie.

Dennil Ramsawak, aka ‘Jason’, 30, of Tin Pan Alley Road, Barrackpore, and his brother, Derrick Ramsawak, 20, of the same address, stood before Magistrate Margaret Alert, to answer the charge.

Bedassie’s, skeletal remains were retrieved from a latrine pit behind his home at Blackman Street, Reform, Gasparillo.

The victim is believed to have been killed sometime between Sunday 26th March and Tuesday 4th April, 2017.
