Wallerfield man charged with double murder

A Wallerfield man is to appear before the Arima 1st Magistrates’ Court, charged with the murders of Stephen Tyrell and Kamau Charles, aka ‘Sap’.

Mikhail Mohammed, aka ‘Boxer’, 28, of Mexico Road, Wallerfield, was charged with the murders, after advice was received from the Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, SC, on Friday 14th April, 2017.

Three charged with murder of Enterprise man

Three men appeared in the Siparia 1st Magistrates’ Court today, charged with the murder of Kendall Kerry Trimm.

The accused are also charged with robbery with violence, possession of a firearm and ammunition and shooting with intent.

Donniel Roberts, 35, of Annabella Street, Couva, Aziz Shah, 26, of Springvale, Claxton Bay and his brother, Aleem Shah, 19, of the same address, stood before Senior Magistrate Armina Deonarinesingh to answer the charges.

$250,000 bail for Cunupia man charged with robbery with aggravation

A 22-year-old Cunupia man was granted $250,000 bail, after appearing before a Chaguanas Magistrate today, charged with nine counts of robbery with aggravation.

Justin Heeraman, of Chin Chin Road, Cunupia, stood before Senior Magistrate Jo-Anne Connor and was not called upon to plead, as the charge was laid indictably.

Heeraman, was arrested and charged on Sunday 9th April, 2017, by officers of the Cunupia Police Station, in connection with the robbery of a proprietor and patrons of a bar in Cunupia, on April 4th, 2017, of $38,000 worth in valuables.

Two brothers in court for murder of Deoraj Bedassie

Two Barrackpore brothers appeared in the San Fernando First Magistrates’ Court today, charged with the murder of 52-year-old Deoraj ‘Bredo’ Bedassie.

Dennil Ramsawak, aka ‘Jason’, 30, of Tin Pan Alley Road, Barrackpore, and his brother, Derrick Ramsawak, 20, of the same address, stood before Magistrate Margaret Alert, to answer the charge.

Bedassie’s, skeletal remains were retrieved from a latrine pit behind his home at Blackman Street, Reform, Gasparillo.

The victim is believed to have been killed sometime between Sunday 26th March and Tuesday 4th April, 2017.

17-year-old boy in court on arms and ammunition charges

A 17-year-old Cunupia boy has appeared before a Chaguanas Magistrate, charged with possession of a firearm and a quantity of ammunition.

Around 11:30 am on Sunday 9th April, 2017, officers on mobile patrol along Chin Chin Road, Cunupia, observed two boys, ages 17 and 13, acting suspiciously.

Upon searching them, the officers found a Taurus revolver and five rounds of .38mm ammunition in the possession of the 17-year-old, while nothing illegal was found on the younger boy.

22-year-old D'Abadie man appears in court for murder

A 22-year-old D’Abadie man has appeared in the Port of Spain 8th Magistrates’ Court, charged with the murder of Maurice Clifford.

Shaquille Castle, aka ‘Shaquille Augustus’, of Red Hill, D’Abadie, appeared before Chief Magistrate, Marcia Ayers-Caesar, today.

Clifford, 42, was shot and killed close to his home at Red Hill, D’Abadie, on Sunday 30th October, 2016.

The matter has been postponed to April 19th, 2017 and transferred to the Arima Magistrates’ Court.

Lawyer appears in court on fraud charges

A 76-year-old lawyer was granted bail after appearing before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate yesterday, Thursday 6th April, 2017, charged with fraudulent conversion.

Wilston Campbell, of Guapo, Fyzabad, who stood before Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar, was not called upon to plead, as the charge was laid indictably. 

Campbell, was arrested and charged on Wednesday 5th April, 2017, by Cpl Toney of the Fraud Squad, for fraudulently converting over $132,000, sometime between August 18th, 2014 and April 5th, 2017.

International: California murder suspect raises $65 million bail

A California woman suspected of murdering the father of her two children is hoping to be released from prison after raising $65m (£52m) bail.

Tiffany Li, 31, posted $4m in cash and pledged $61m in property, raised from a group of friends, family and business associates, the Associated Press said.

The bail had been set at $35m, but California courts require double the amount if property is used.

Her lawyer said she was "well-liked in the community", the LA Times reported.
