A warrant is to be issued for the arrest of a male suspect, who is alleged to have assaulted police officers, during the conduct of their duties at Cumuto Road, Indian Walk, yesterday.
Three officers attached to the Princes Town Police Station, were on mobile patrol around 9:50 am, on Tuesday 29th August, 2017, when they saw a man acting suspiciously.
The officers were carrying out a search of the suspect, when a firearm was allegedly discovered on his person.
A Glock pistol and a quantity of ammunition have been seized during an anti-crime exercise by officers of the Carenage Police Station.
Police say officers conducted the exercise between 4 pm and 6 pm on Tuesday 29th August, 2017, in the Carenage District.
Acting on information received, the officers proceeded to Upper Haig Street, Carenage, where they conducted a search of an abandoned house.
The search resulted in a pistol and magazine with nine rounds of 9mm ammunition being found.
No arrests were made in connection with the find.
Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard has given instructions for former Attorney General Anand Ramlogan to be charged with misbehaviour in public office and attempting to pervert the course of justice. The charges are to be read to him today. He will appear in court today to answer the charges.
After 12 hours of questioning following his dawn arrest by police yesterday, Ramlogan remained in custody at Police Headquarters, Port-of-Spain last night.

Officers conducted the exercise between 10:30 am and 2 pm, along Bagatelle Extension Road, San Juan, on Tuesday 25th July, 2017, after receiving information that a male suspect, wanted in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Lawrence Sydney, aka ‘Kareem’, was spotted in the area.
Police are investigating a murder/suicide in Tobago.
Around 7:30 am, police were called in after screams were heard at Congo Hill Trace, Moriah.
Upon arrival they discovered the lifeless body of Romelda King in some bushes, her body bore several chop wounds.
The police also discovered Hilton King inside a house a short distance away, frothing from the mouth.
Police believe he ingested a poisonous substance.
