Father Harvey robbed in church

Roman Catholic priest Father Clyde Harvey has been robbed.

Around 6am, Father Harvey was at the St Martin’s RC Church, Gonzales where he is also the parish priest, when three gunmen entered the building and announced a hold-up.

The bandits tied up Father Harvey, ransacked the presbytery and took $1000, a mobile phone and other items from the church before making their escape. \

The assailants also threatened to kill the priest.

Harvey is the chairman of three non-government organisations and is known for his work with youth.

Ex-convict Eddie Phillip aka "One is One" shot dead in Chaguanas

A man who was found dead in Chaguanas earlier today has been identified as ex-convict, Eddie Phillip.

Phillip’s body was found bound and gagged in an abandoned vehicle along Gail Street close to midday.

Police suspect Phillip was kidnapped and was attempting to escape when he was shot in the head.

Murder in Petit Bourg

Police are on the scene of a homicide in Petit Bourg where a 46-year-old man was shot and killed.

Around 3:45 pm Denzel Phillip, 46, was conducting repairs to a vehicle at Plus Parts in Petit Bourg along the Eastern Main Road, when two men ran in his direction and started shooting.

He ran into the back of the store room and they continued running behind him.

He was shot as many as seven times in the head.

Investigations are ongoing.

Double murder in Arima

Two men have been shot and killed at Tumpuna Road.

Reports indicate that around 10 pm on Wednesday, 30-year-old Keon Carr and 29-year-old Anderson Alexis were at Ali Bocas Car Care in the vicinity of The Crossings on Tumpuna Road, Arima when three men, all wearing masks approached them and fired several shots.

The gunmen then made their escape in a black Nissan Tiida which proceeded south along Tumpuna Road.

The victims were pronounced dead on the scene.


Two charged with cocaine, marijuana, gun possession

Two men are due to appear in the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court, charged with narcotics possession, after being arrested during anti-crime exercises in the Western Division over the weekend.

One pistol and magazine were also found during the exercises, which were conducted by officers of the Western Division Task Force, between 11 am on Saturday 20th May, 2017 and 1 am on Sunday 21st May, 2017.

Diego Martin man charged with gun possession

A 32-year-old Diego Martin man will appear in the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court, charged with possession of a Smith and Wesson pistol and magazine, loaded with five rounds of .9mm ammunition.

Sean Khan, of Julien Park, Diego Martin, was held by officers of the Western Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise around 4:30 am on Thursday 18th May, 2017.

The firearm and ammunition were found hidden under the driver’s seat of a B-13 motor vehicle which was parked at the home of the accused, at the time of the exercise.

Man found murdered in car in Moruga

Police are on the scene of a suspected murder in Moruga, where a man was found dead in a car.

Initial reports stated that a passerby was walking along Bachan Trace, St Mary’s around 8 am when he saw the body of a man in the back seat of a Nissan Sunny B-14 with a blood oozing from a wound on his head.

Police were contacted and a party of officers from the Princes Town and St Mary’s police stations led by Sgt Ramlogan responded.

Police are yet to identify the victim.

KFC victim was hunted

After fleeing gunmen from his Maloney Gardens home town, Akino Suya was still tracked down by them, followed to the St Helena branch of KFC and shot dead by two men.

According to reports, the shooting took place around 10.30 pm while the fast food outlet at St Helena Junction was filled with customers. Eyewitnesses told police two men entered the restaurant and walked towards Suya, who was standing in the line waiting to place his order. One of the men drew a gun and fired at him. Suya was shot five times.

Freeport mason abducted

Freeport police are investigating the abduction of a 34-year-old man from the community on Sunday.

Ravi Anthony was reportedly walking along Lime Fruit Road with one of his cousins when a car pulled up alongside them. Anthony’s cousin managed to escape, but he was accosted by two of the vehicle’s occupants, beaten and thrown into the vehicle and taken away.

Up to late last night, Anthony remained missing and the family had received no calls for a ransom.
