A 27-year-old man has been shot and killed.
The victim has been identified as Adrian Julian of Clarence Trace, Valencia.
Residents reported hearing loud explosions on Sunday evening.
Police were contacted and discovered Julien lying in a pool of blood.
He was taken to the Sangre Grande hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police arrested five persons and seized a quantity of arms, ammunition and narcotics, following an anti-crime exercise in the North Eastern Division, a police statement says.

Police have detained 14 persons and seized a quantity of drugs, arms and ammunition following an anti-crime exercise in the Northern Division.
Between the hours of 1pm and 11pm on Wednesday 5th April, 2017, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force and Canine Unit, conducted an exercise at the Heights of Guanapo, Arima.
A search warrant was executed at a mosque in the area for arms and ammunition.
Two persons have appeared in the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court, charged with robbery with aggravation.
One of the individuals also faces a charge of larceny stemming from a separate incident.
Kurson Deprandine, 30, of Arnos Vale Road, Les Choteau, and Danel Murray, 19, of Top River, Charlotteville, were arrested and charged for robbery with aggravation against 32-year-old Nikeshorn Peters, of Parlatuvier.
Peters was shot at and robbed of his vehicle, a quantity of cash and a cellular phone at Mt. Dillon, on Thursday 16th March, 2017.
A 23-year-old man appeared in the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday 5th April, 2017, charged with robbery with violence.
Okira Holder, 23, of Bacolet, Scarborough, was arrested and charged on Monday 3rd April, 2017, for robbery with violence, against 37-year-old Kirby Clement.
The charge was laid by WPC Marcelle.
Clement was beaten and robbed of his vehicle, a cellular phone and a quantity of cash, by four men, in Mason Hall, on Monday 27th March, 2017.
The matter was postponed to Wednesday 3rd May, 2017.
A 40-year-old Trinidad and Tobago national is among 80 arrested by officers of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland.
Sixty-eight, of the 82 people arrested during the five-day operation, had previous criminal convictions for crimes like armed robbery, larceny and drug distribution, according to ICE.
Police are advising motorists to be wary of persons posing as vendors and operating along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, but who are engaged in an extortion scam.
A statement by the Police Service said reports reaching police indicate that persons engaged in the scam, create a situation, where their vending carts make contact with the vehicle of an unsuspecting motorist.
The scam artiste thereafter accuses the motorist of causing damage to his cart and proceeds under threat to extort money from the motorist.
A 30-year-old woman has been shot and killed.
Melissa Ramkissoon was in a vehicle with two men known to her when an argument ensued between Ramkissoon and one of the men in the vicinity of the Felicity Main Road, Chaguanas.
The man allegedly whipped out a gun and shot the woman who was at the time in the front passenger seat.
Ramkissoon's attacker subsequently fled the scene by jumping out of the vehicle.
The other man present in the vehicle drove to the Chaguanas Police Station with Ramkissoon's body in the vehicle.
