Three persons were arrested and a pistol and a quantity of ammunition seized, by officers of San Fernando CID, during an anti-crime exercise in Marabella over the weekend.
PCs Justin Deonath and Artherly Figaro and WPC Annika St. George, were on mobile patrol around 12:30 am on Sunday in San Fernando, when they had cause to stop a silver Nissan AD Wagon with three male occupants, along the Tarouba Link Road, Marabella.
A search of the vehicle resulted in a Glock 19 pistol and 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition being discovered under the driver’s seat.
A revolver and a shotgun were discovered by officers of the Santa Cruz Police Station during an anti-crime exercise in the district yesterday, police said in a media statement.
The exercise, spearheaded by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Surrendra Sagramsingh, supervised by ASP (Ag.) Michael Sooker, and including officers of the Coastal Patrol Unit and Santa Cruz Charge Room, was conducted between 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm on Monday.

The exercise, coordinated by Snr. Supt. Kenny McIntyre, supervised by Sgt. (Ag.) Ken Ali and including officers of the Couva CID and Canine Unit, was conducted between 2 pm and 10 pm on Monday.
Officers proceeded to an open area off Rivulet Road, Couva, where they discovered one Taurus revolver and one pistol outfitted with a magazine.
A Toco man is expected to appear before a Sangre Grande Magistrate today, charged with the murder of David Callender, which occurred on Sunday 14th January, 2018.
Tyron Marryshow, aka “Shaka”, 30, a fisherman of Cumana Village, Toco, was charged with murder following advice received from acting Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore-Paul on Monday.
He was previously charged with possession of firearm and ammunition which is connected to the incident.
A retired police officer is among two men expected to appear before a Couva Magistrate today to answer charges of being in possession of arms, ammunition and a quantity of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
On Monday, a police exercise conducted in the Couva area resulted in the seizure of two firearms, a quantity of marijuana and cocaine at a house.
A Sangre Grande man has been shot and killed.
Reports indicate that around 1.30 am today, 28-year-old Garth Sansand was shot in the head while sleeping in his one-room apartment.
A female relative who was with Sansand at the time called the police.
From Saturday up to Monday, seven murders have been recorded and six people wounded from gunshot wounds.
The murder toll now stands at 47.
Police are at this time at Campo Village in Cunupia where two bodies wrapped in sheets of cloth have been found.
In an earlier incident, Franklin Wong, the proprietor of wong’s supermarket died hours after he was shot during a daring mid-morning robbery at his family business in Diego Martin.
This follows two other unrelated shooting incidents that occurred over the weekend where two men were killed and four injured.
