Anti-crime exercises conducted by officers of the North Eastern Division, have led to three persons being charged, two men being detained and the seizure of three firearms and a quantity of ammunition, a police statement said.
Around 10:50 am on Monday 24th April, 2017, officers of the Rapid Response Unit, intercepted a gold Nissan Almera motorcar, at Croisee, San Juan, with three occupants.
A search of the vehicle yielded one gun and 49 rounds of .9mm ammunition.
A gun and quantities of ammunition and drugs have been found, during anti-crime exercises in the Laventille and Port of Spain areas, a police statement said.
Officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force, along with officers of the Besson Street, CID and Canine Unit, conducted the exercises, between 6 am and 9:45 am, on Friday 21st April, 2017, at Mulrain Trace, Laventille.
A search of several abandoned lots in the area was conducted, resulting in the discovery of one Beretta pistol, along with a quantity of .9mm ammunition.
Police have arrested and charged two men for narcotics, weapon possession and ammunition offences after they ran a stop light.
Around 3 am on Friday 21st April, 2017, whilst on mobile patrol, officers attached to the Penal Police Station under Cpls Andrews and Ramlal, observed a silver Nissan Tiida breaching a traffic light along the S.S Erin Road, Penal.

Police say that on Wednesday 19th April, 2017, Inspector Jankie, Sgt Samaroo and Cpl Bhim coordinated an anti-crime exercise in the Biche district, which led to one man being arrested and the seizure of 2.2 kilogrammes of marijuana.
During the exercise, officers attached to the Biche Police Station had cause to stop and search a black Mazda BT50 truck along the Cunapo Southern Main Road.
A Penal man has been killed.
Reports indicate that 55-year-old David Ramsingh of Matura avenue was attacked by another man on Tuesday afternoon.
Reports say that Ramsingh had an altercation earlier that day with the man, during which the man was chopped on the hand.
Later that afternoon the man allegedly went to the victim's home and ambushed Ramsingh while he slept.
The attacker chopped Ramsingh three times on his head, cracking his skull open, he then broke both his legs.
A Wallerfield man is to appear before the Arima 1st Magistrates’ Court, charged with the murders of Stephen Tyrell and Kamau Charles, aka ‘Sap’.
Mikhail Mohammed, aka ‘Boxer’, 28, of Mexico Road, Wallerfield, was charged with the murders, after advice was received from the Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, SC, on Friday 14th April, 2017.

Around 2:30 pm on Saturday 16th April, 2017, officers went to a restaurant and bar located at Cipero Road, Golconda, where they found a black Glock 17 pistol, fitted with a magazine with 10 rounds of .9mm ammunition and six packets containing a quantity of marijuana, under a tent in front of the bar.
