Police find Magnum revolver in Laventille exercise

A Magnum revolver was discovered by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force, Operation H.O.P.E, during an anti-crime exercise, in the Laventille district over the weekend.

Officers, acting on information, proceeded to La Resource Road, Laventille, around 8:50 am, on Saturday 20th January, 2018, where they conducted a search of a bushy area along the roadway.

The search resulted in one black and silver revolver being found approximately 150 feet off the roadway.

No one was arrested in connection with the find.

Charlieville man held with pistol and ammunition

One man was arrested and a pistol discovered, by officers of the Stolen Vehicles Squad, during an exercise in the Northern Division over the weekend.

Officers were on patrol at Trincity Mall, Trincity, around 4:30pm, on Friday 19th January, 2018, when they observed a brown Nissan Navara bearing a false number plate, being driven by a 35-year-old man of Savannah Heights, Charlieville.

The man was arrested and the vehicle seized.

Murder in Patna Village

A shooting incident in Patna Village this morning has left one man dead and another injured.

Reports indicate that at 8.30 this morning, residents of Good Session Road in Patna Village heard gunshots.

Upon investigating, they discovered one man dead and another injured.

The two remain at this time unidentified.

The injured man has been taken to hospital.

 

Three guns found hidden in toilet tank of interior decorator's home

One woman was arrested and three revolvers seized by officers of the Southern Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise in the San Fernando district, which took place overnight into this morning.

Officers conducted the exercise, coordinated by Sgt. Vishal Parasram and supervised by Cpl. Dinton Dinoo, between 9 pm on Thursday and 2 am on Friday, during which they executed a search warrant at the Hermitage Village home of a 27-year-old interior decorator.

Manslaughter charge for man who goes by alias "Ricky Jai"

A Golconda Village man is expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate today, charged with manslaughter in the death of Asaf Khan, which occurred on Monday 25th December, 2017.

Richard Marvin Dillon, aka “Ricky Jai”, 35, a labourer of Golconda Village, San Fernando, was charged with manslaughter following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore-Paul on Thursday 18th January, 2018.

32-year-old man arrested with Taurus revolver

A Laventille man was arrested and a revolver and a quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Cumuto Police Station, during an anti-crime exercise in the district, last night.

The exercise, supervised by Cpl.Shawn Gordon, was conducted between 8 pm and 11:30 pm on Thursday, during which officers had cause to stop a white Nissan B-15 motor vehicle, with a lone occupant.

A search of the vehicle resulted in one Taurus revolver and six rounds of .38mm ammunition being discovered.

Pistol found hidden in bushes in Cunupia

A pistol was discovered during an anti-crime exercise by officers of the Central Division Task Force in the Cunupia district yesterday, a police statement said.

Officers conducted the exercise between 10 am and 5 pm, on Wednesday, during which they proceeded to Marshall Street, Cunupia, where they conducted a search of a bushy area.

The search resulted in a plastic bag containing one black and silver Bernardelli-Sarsilmaz pistol, being discovered.

No arrest was made in connection with the find.

Police shoot teen during La Horquetta anti-crime exercise

One man is hospitalized, four others arrested and a pistol and a quantity of ammunition seized, following a police-involved shooting incident at La Horquetta last night, police said in a statement.

The shooting occurred during an anti-crime exercise conducted by officers of the La Horquetta Police Station and Maloney CID under Sgt. Vaughn Waldrop, between 8:45 pm and 12 am, on Wednesday 17th January, 2018, in the La Horquetta district.

Tobago student warded in critical condition after school fight

A student of the Signal Hill Secondary School is now warded in a critical condition after being seriously injured in a fight at school on Wednesday.

Reports indicate that the student was beaten with a sharp blunt object to his head.

Video footage shows the boy lying on the ground while a female student attempts to tend to his wound.

The student had to be airlifted to Trinidad for emergency treatment. 

Police are now investigating.

 

Teenager murdered in Diego Martin

An 18-year-old man was killed in a drive-by shooting which left two others nursing gunshot wounds.

Reports indicate that shortly after 9 pm on Tuesday a group of men were walking along Quarry Street, Diego Martin when a car pulled alongside them.

Eyewitnesses say a back seat occupant then opened fire on the men before the vehicle sped off.
