Double murder in Aranguez

A father and daughter were shot dead in Aranguez.

Guardian media understands that the incident took place shortly before 10 pm on Wednesday at their Williams street home.

Residents say they heard several loud explosions and upon investigating they found 62-year-old Elliot Verammay.

And his daughter 33-year-old Sarah Verammay motionless on their couch.

They died on the scene.

Burkie arrested during Sea Lots exercise

Sea Lots com­mu­ni­ty leader Cedric Burke, al­so known as Burkie, has been tak­en in­to cus­tody fol­low­ing a po­lice ex­er­cise in the area Wednes­day morn­ing.

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands that var­i­ous arms of the T&T Po­lice Ser­vice con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise around sev­en this morn­ing in the com­mu­ni­ty when Burke was al­leged­ly found to be in pos­ses­sion of a large quan­ti­ty of mon­ey. He was sub­se­quent­ly tak­en in­to cus­tody pend­ing fur­ther in­quiries.

Customs guard killed in carjacking

A 27-year-old Cus­toms and Ex­cise guard was shot dead just af­ter he dropped off a co-work­er at her Kel­ly Vil­lage, Ca­roni home on Tues­day night.

He has been iden­ti­fied as Keenan Lutch­man of Nolan Street in Fe­lic­i­ty, Ch­agua­nas.

Speak­ing with the Guardian Me­dia Wednes­day, Lutch­man's fa­ther Di­anand said his son had just fin­ished a 12-hour shift, clocked out at 9 pm at the Pre­ven­ta­tive Sec­tion at the Pi­ar­co In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port and dropped off his co-work­er at her home when he was at­tacked by a gun­man.

Two held after shooting couple in house raid

Two men have been detained by police for questioning in connection with the attempted murder of a couple at their home in Biche on Sunday night.

According to a police report, at about 8 pm the couple - a 44-year-old man and his wife, 45 - was at their home at Fitts Road, when two men barged in and opened fire.

The man was shot in the chest while his wife was shot on the left foot.

The men then escaped in a black Nissan Juke.

The couple is said to be warded in a stable condition at the Sangre Grande District Hospital.

A 25-year-old man from West­moor­ings has plead­ed guilty to hav­ing a small in­door mar­i­jua­na grow­ing op­er­a­tion at his home.

Elias Aboud, of Sun­down Road, Good­wood Park, plead­ed guilty to mar­i­jua­na cul­ti­va­tion as he ap­peared be­fore act­ing Deputy Chief Mag­is­trate Cher­ril-Anne An­toine in the Port-of-Spain Mag­is­trates’ Court, on Mon­day.

Two arrested for possession of marijuana

Two men have been arrested for possession of marijuana and narcotic related offences during a road traffic exercise conducted in Four Roads.

According to police reports, during the exercise, officers intercepted a silver SUV at Victoria Avenue, Diego Martin and upon searching the vehicle and its two occupants, the officers discovered a quantity of high-grade marijuana, marijuana in liquid form and several devices/apparatuses for the illicit use of the narcotics.

Cops rescue 6 Venezuelan women

Six Venezue­lan women, be­tween the ages of 19 and 32, whom po­lice be­lieve were vic­tims of a hu­man traf­fick­ing ring have been res­cued from a home in Diego Mar­tin by of­fi­cers of the Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Re­sponse Team (SORT) and as­sist­ed by sev­er­al oth­er law en­force­ment agen­cies.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise on Sat­ur­day night, a 51-year-old Trinida­di­an man, a 33-year-old Venezue­lan na­tion­al and two Venezue­lan women ages 21 and 24 were ar­rest­ed and tak­en to the Cen­tral Po­lice Sta­tion in Port-of-Spain.
