Kees congratulates Machel, Bunji, Skinny Fabulous on Road March win

Kes The Bandhas issued a statement officially thanking the people of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as all masqueraders (local, regional and international), all DJs, program directors, influencers and tastemakers for embracing their song, “Savannah Grass” and including it in the soundtrack of Trinidad and Tobago Carnival 2019.

In a statement issued Wednesday, lead singer of the band of brothers, Kees Dieffenthaller said: 

K2K is Band of the Year; Lost Tribe takes Large Band category

K2K Alliance has been adjudged the 2019 Band of the Year. 

The announcement Colin Lucas, CEO of the National Carnival Commission today.

K2K's presentation of 'Through the Stain Glass Windows' was adjudged the overall winner and the band also won in the medium band category.

The Lost Tribe won the large band category.

Road March results trouble 'Savannah Grass' fans

While 'Famalay' has won the Road March, it certainly has not won the hearts of everyone.

The song, by Machel Montano, Ian 'Bunji Garlin' Alvarez and Gamal 'Skinny Fabulous' Doyle was adjudged the winner, having been played 346 times, as opposed to Kees Dieffenthaller's 'Savannah Grass' which was played 207 times.

The results, posted on the CNC3 Facebook page - - have been receiving feedback from hundreds of persons, many of whom believe Savannah Grass should have won the competition.

Only 12 serious crimes reported - safest Carnival in a long time

National Security Minister Stuart Young has confirmed that this year’s Trinidad and Tobago Carnival was the safest, at least in the last five years.

The minister was speaking at a news conference at the ministry.

Minister Young stated that back in 2014, there were 46 serious reported crimes for that year’s carnival.

However, he reports that for this year’s carnival, serious reported crimes fell to a record low of 12 incidents.

Machel one away from Kitchie, Bunji gets his 1st

Machel Montano's Road March victory this year, now places him in 2nd place on the all-time list, tied with Austin 'Superblue'  Lyons with 10 victories.

The late Lord Kitchener holds the top spot with 11.

Montano, Ian 'Bunji Garlin' Alvarez and Gamal 'Skinny Fabulous' Doyle were announced Wednesday as this year's winners with their song 'Famalay'.

It was played 346 times, well ahead of Kees Dieffenthaller's 'Savannah Grass'.

Montano had been third on the list before this year's victory.
