Njisane Philip does not advance

Cyclist Njisane Philip has not advanced to the Round of 16 in the Cycling Sprint event.

Philip had a second shot in the Repechage race after losing to Xu Chao in the Round of 32.

However, he placed third behind Edward Dawkins of New Zealand and Maximilian Levy of Germany.

Levy eventually won to go through to the Round of 16 on Saturday morning.

Njisane Phillip has will go to the Repechage rounds in an attempt to qualify for the Round of 16 of the Cycling Sprint after losing to Xu Chao of China in the Round of 32.

Phillip qualified for the Round of 32 with a speedy 9.813 in the opening races, the 6th fastest time of the day.

The Repechage races take place later today.

Njisane Phillip has qualified for the round of 32 in the Cycling Sprint events at the Rio Olympics.

The T&T rider clocked a speedy 9.813 seconds, which was only bettered by five other sprinters in the field of 27.

The top 18 join the other sprinters who had already qualified for the round of 32.

Philip, who placed 4th in this event at the London Olympics, told ESPN that he was honoured to be at the Olympics and was feeling good about his time.
