Docs deny sick baby care at health centre - too close to closing time

Less than three weeks af­ter Si­mone Chadee gave birth in the back seat of a car af­ter be­ing turned away by staff at the Mara­bel­la Health Cen­tre, a moth­er and her ail­ing ba­by have al­leged­ly been de­nied treat­ment at the same fa­cil­i­ty be­cause it was about to close.

Mara­bel­la res­i­dent Suni­ta Bal­go­b­in shared her or­deal on Face­book on Fri­day af­ter she and her one-year-old son were de­nied care at the fa­cil­i­ty. In re­sponse to her Face­book post, many users took the op­por­tu­ni­ty to com­ment about the poor med­ical ser­vice they have re­ceived.

Final farewell for doctor killed in crash

In a pri­vate cer­e­mo­ny held at the Lega­cy in Ch­agua­nas, rel­a­tives, friends, and neigh­bours of Dr Ra­jeev Ba­hall bade him a fi­nal farewell to­day.

Se­cu­ri­ty at the Lega­cy said the fam­i­ly did not want any me­dia at the fu­ner­al which start­ed at 9:30 am. Fol­low­ing the fu­ner­al ser­vice, Dr Ba­hall was cre­mat­ed near the Tem­ple in the Sea at Wa­ter­loo.

Medical Association: Close to 200 doctors not permanently employed

The Trinidad and Tobago Medical Association says it is concerned about the lack of employment for qualified medical professionals and in particular House Officers in the public sector. They estimate that there are close to 200 doctors who continue to seek permanent employment.

President raises possibility of T&T doctors working in Holland

President Anthony Carmona has met with the Dutch Foreign Affairs Minister Halbe Zijlstra in The Hague, Holland and discussed the possibility of doctors from Trinidad and Tobago being employed in Holland.

Carmona is in The Hague as the distinguished speaker of the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) ceremonial opening of the judicial year 2018 which takes place on Thursday 18th, January, 2018.

It is the first time the ICC will have a ceremonial opening for its judicial year.
