Less than three weeks after Simone Chadee gave birth in the back seat of a car after being turned away by staff at the Marabella Health Centre, a mother and her ailing baby have allegedly been denied treatment at the same facility because it was about to close.
Marabella resident Sunita Balgobin shared her ordeal on Facebook on Friday after she and her one-year-old son were denied care at the facility. In response to her Facebook post, many users took the opportunity to comment about the poor medical service they have received.
In a private ceremony held at the Legacy in Chaguanas, relatives, friends, and neighbours of Dr Rajeev Bahall bade him a final farewell today.
Security at the Legacy said the family did not want any media at the funeral which started at 9:30 am. Following the funeral service, Dr Bahall was cremated near the Temple in the Sea at Waterloo.
The Trinidad and Tobago Medical Association says it is concerned about the lack of employment for qualified medical professionals and in particular House Officers in the public sector. They estimate that there are close to 200 doctors who continue to seek permanent employment.
President Anthony Carmona has met with the Dutch Foreign Affairs Minister Halbe Zijlstra in The Hague, Holland and discussed the possibility of doctors from Trinidad and Tobago being employed in Holland.
Carmona is in The Hague as the distinguished speaker of the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) ceremonial opening of the judicial year 2018 which takes place on Thursday 18th, January, 2018.
It is the first time the ICC will have a ceremonial opening for its judicial year.
