TTPS urges state witnesses to stay in Witness Protection

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is urging citizens who have been placed in witness protection, to stay there while they need that special cover.

The appeal comes in the wake of the murder of 44-year-old Raffick Hosein, of Fitts Road, Biche.

He was gunned down at his Biche home at about 3:30 on Wednesday afternoon.

He was a state witness in a double murder case and had been receiving death threats.

Police say he seldom left his home.

Two double murders in last 24-hours

Two double murders are recorded in the space of three hours in north Trinidad.
In the latest incident which is said to have occurred around 11:30 pm, two men were shot and killed at Marcano Drive, El Dorado. Reports suggest the shooting occurred a short distance from a wake which was held for 32-year-old Cherisse Bramble who was shot and killed on Monday evening after gunmen stormed a house and opened fire. The victims have been identified as Akash Dookie and Darius Joseph, both from Tunapuna.

Developing: Double-murder in Laventille

Police are investigating a double-murder in Laventille.

The murder occurred around 2.45 pm.

Reports indicate that a demolition crew was carrying out work at an old apartment complex in Canada, Laventille where the killings allegedly occurred.

The victims have been identified as Tyrique Roberts, 19, and Hakim Andrews, 21.

Double-murder in Laventille

Police are at this time investigating a double-murder in Laventille.

Two men were shot dead as they drove along Belgrove Street, Laventille.

The two men were located in the driver's seat and passenger's seat of the vehicle.

A picture of the two men bleeding from their heads is being circulated online.

The photo shows the men, both dressed in black t-shirts slumped towards each other, both partially covered in blood.

This is the fourth case of shooting incidents that took the lives of two or more people in the last 10 days.

Police investigate double-murder in Chaguanas

Police are investigating a double-murder in Chaguanas last night.

The victims are Narine Kalpoo and his common-law Lutchmin Jaggernath.

Police say the couple was shot dead as they returned to their home at 59 Kalpoo Avenue, Felicity, Chaguanas, from watching a movie at Movietowne.

Jaggernauth was shot as she left the vehicle while Kalpoo was killed as he sat behind the steering wheel.

Police are yet to establish a motive for the killings.

Double-murder in Heights of Guanapo

Police are currently investigating a double homicide in Arima this morning.

The two victims are said to be cousins.

Information coming to us indicate that the shooting occurred around 6am today.

Residents of Dump Road in the Heights of Guanapo reported that they heard several loud explosions.

They later found two men bleeding from multiple gunshot injuries.

By the time police arrived one of the two men referred to as “Osama” was already dead. 

Double murder in St Joseph

Police are investigating a double murder in St Joseph, in which two men were shot dead.

The shootings occurred around 5pm Monday.

All the facts have not yet been released by the victims have been identified as Keston Charles and Anton DeFour.

This follows the shooting death of a teacher and wounding of another man in St Joseph last week.

Police have not as yet made any connections between these two incidents.

Police release 15-year-old arrested in connection with double murder

The 15-year-old boy who was arrested in connection with the double murder of teenagers Stephan Singh and Marlon Hall has been released.

Singh and Hall were gunned down along St John Road in St Augustine last month.

The 15-year-old suspect was the first person to be held in connection with the murders.

However, the attorney representing the minor, Fareed Ali, confirmed his release during an interview on CNC3's The Morning Brew.

Double murder in Guayaguayare

Two men from Guayaguayare are the countries latest murder victims.

Dead are Terrence Ramoutar and Joseph Henry of Saltwater Line Stone, Bright Village, Guayaguayare.

The men, who were said to be in their late mid 30s or early 40s, were discovered in a burnt out house.

Reports are that police received information that around 2 am on Friday morning that a house was on fire.
