2-year-old drowns at Williams Bay

The police are awaiting word from the dpp on whether or not to charge a 19-year-old mother after her 2-year- old daughter drowned in Chaguaramas.

56-year-old man drowns at Maracas Bay

A 56-year-old man has drowned at Maracas Beach and two other people who were also caught in the current were rescued by the Coast Guard and lifeguards.

He has been identified as Primchan Ramlal.

A statement by the Coast Guard says that on Sunday 2nd July 2017 at approximately 7:10 pm, the Coast Guard received a report from a coast guard officer, Able Seaman Henry, who was on Maracas beach at the time, that there were three persons in some difficulty in the water.

Two were males and one was female.  

Investigations continue into drowning death of 2-year-old girl in Tobago

Investigations continue into the drowning death of two-year old child in Tobago.

Reports indicate that Chyna Robert was left in the care of an aunt and uncle at Rennaisance, Roxborough.

Around midday Saturday, Chyna walked out the sight of the adults.

Her uncle found her climbing a ladder to an inflatable adult sized pool.

By the time he ran for the child she jumped into the pool.

The man recovered the child's body however she was unconscious.

He tried CPR but was unsuccessful.

Police were called to the scene.

Man drowns at Tyrico Beach

A man, said to be in his 30s, has drowned at Tyrico Beach.

He has been identified as 35-year-old Micah Felix.

According to reports, around 11.30 am today, the man, who was in the company of a female companion, found himself in difficulty and went under the water.  

The woman managed to alert the lifeguards who were not on that portion of the beach.

After numerous attempts to revive the man, he was pronounced dead.

His name has not yet been released to us.

Journalists witness drowning death

Trinidad Guardian: What started off as an expedition at sea for members of the media investigating the recent fish kill at Mosquito Creek, yesterday morning, turned into a mission to rescue a drowning man from the same waters. 

However, by the time the body of the elderly man of East Indian descent was pulled from the water, little could be done to save his life. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the San Fernando General Hospital.
