Man nabbed smuggling weed into jail in apples

It seems fruits are now the pre­ferred choice to have smug­gle con­tra­band items in­to the na­tion’s pris­ons.

On Wednes­day, a 22-year-old Kel­ly Vil­lage, Ca­roni man was ar­rest­ed by prison of­fi­cers at the Max­i­mum Se­cu­ri­ty Prison in Arou­ca at­tempt­ing to smug­gle in four ap­ples stuffed with pack­ets of mar­i­jua­na with a to­tal weight of weigh­ing 88 grams.

Accused held in weekend's drug & ammunition bust appears in court

A Cunupia businessman who has been charged in connection with the seizure of large quantities of drug and weapons during an anti-crime operation, appeared before a Chaguanas Magistrate today.

Jerome Olliverre, 28, a businessman of Macaya Trace, Monroe Road, Cunupia, was charged with two counts of possession of dangerous drugs for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of firearms and one count of possession of ammunition, when he appeared before Chaguanas Magistrate Brian Debideen.

Another big drug bust, this one in Sangre Grande

Police have made another major drug bust, this one in Sangre Grande.

The full details of the bust are not yet clear but reports indicate that police journeyed deep into the forest of Sangre Grande where they made the find.

The bust was done by the Eastern Divisional Task Force.

The drugs were found in several plastic barrels.

Princes Town couple to appear in court for drug trafficking

Shervilee Browm, 28, and his common-law wife Giselle Odele 28 both of 6th Company, Princes Town is expected to appear before a Rio Claro Magistrates' Court today charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. 

The Princes Town couple was arrested during a police exercise earlier this week.

Brown and Odele were arrested after a search warrant executed at their home resulted in officers discovering 1.14 kilogrammes of marijuana hidden in a clothes basket in a bedroom. 

The drug has an estimated street value of $11,400. 

Princes Town man detained for drugs and ammunition

A 29-year-old Princes Town man has been detained by police for possession of drugs and ammunition.

According to police reports during an anti-crime exercise, officers executed a search warrant at the Susannah Trace, Princes Town home of a 29-year-old man.

The search resulted in eight packets containing 4.1 kilogrammes of marijuana and 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition being discovered on the premises.

The drug has an estimated street value of $41,000.

The man who was in the house at the time of the exercise was arrested in connection with the finds.

Police use drone to locate $1.6m marijuana field

Police destroyed marijuana trees and cured marijuana worth an estimated $1.6 million, after using a drone to locate the fields.

According to police reports, during the exercise, Sgt. Ronny Rampallard of the Air Support Unit deployed ‘Dragonfly 3’.

The drone was utilized for situational awareness to guide the officers through the forest, where they found two marijuana fields with 1,500 fully grown trees.

 The officers also found 42 pounds of cured marijuana and one camp which were subsequently destroyed along with the trees. 

Taxi driver held with marijuana valued at $220,000

Rhommel St. Louis a 25-year-old taxi driver is expected to appear before a Siparia Magistrate today charged with possession of marijuana valued at  $220,000 for the purpose of trafficking.

St. Louis of De La Marre Avenue Trincity was arrested by officers of the South Western Division Task Force (SWDTF) during an anti-crime exercise, conducted in the Santa Flora district, last night.

Couple found with 34 kilos of ganja during raid

A cou­ple from Mal­oney re­main in po­lice cus­tody af­ter be­ing held with 34.92 ki­los of mar­i­jua­na on Mon­day night.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, around 7.30 pm a group of po­lice of­fi­cers from the North­ern Di­vi­sion led by Sgt Rene Kat­wa­roo ex­e­cut­ed a search war­rant at an apart­ment at Build­ing 13 Mal­oney Gar­dens.

While they were ex­pect­ing to find an il­le­gal gun and am­mu­ni­tion dur­ing the search, po­lice found two cro­cus bags con­tain­ing 60 pack­ets of mar­i­jua­na. In­ves­ti­ga­tors es­ti­mate that the drugs have a street val­ue of $488,000.
