Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has called on Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley to write to incoming us president donated trump to determine the future of the FATCA legislation in the United States.
The call comes as Persad Bissessar wrote to the prime minister seeking a resolution to the deadlock over the FATCA bill.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Persad-Bissessar outlined several proposals to resolve the impasse that currently exists between the government and opposition on the passage of the tax information exchange agreements bill 2016.
The Chamber of Industry and Commerce is expressing dissatisfaction with the Opposition's walkout of Parliament and decision to stay away from Parliament on Monday during debate on FATCA legislation.
The Chamber has issued a statement asking both the Government and Opposition to act with hast on the legislation.
"The Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce wishes to express its dissatisfaction at the turn of events following last Friday’s walkout by the Opposition, compounded by their decision yesterday to stay away from the Parliament.
