Father Harvey appointed Bishop of Grenada

Fr Clyde Martin Harvey, 68 years, is the Bishop-elect of the Diocese of St. George’s, Grenada, the Archdioces of Port-of-Spain has said on its website.

The appointment was announced at the Vatican noon today, 6 a.m. local time.

“It is a moment to trust God, trust that somehow your talents meet the job,” Bishop-elect Monsignor (Msgr) Harvey said in his first interview since being notified by Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Nicola Giralsoli on June 19. He wonders if he is “too old for the job”.

Four held for robbery of Father Harvey; priest's watch recovered

Four men have been held for the robbery of Roman Catholic priest Father Clyde Harvey.

They are expected to be charged as soon as this evening or tomorrow for the attack at a church in Gonzales, Belmont.

One of the men was held yesterday, while three others were arrested around 3 o’clock this morning, all in the Laventille area.

Officers of the Besson Street Police Station led by ASP Ajith Persad recovered Father Harvey's watch but could not find the $1000 taken from him.

Emancipation Support Committee saddened by assault of Father Harvey

The Emancipation Support Committee (ESC) says it is saddened by the assault on Roman Catholic priest Dather Clyde Harvey.

The ESC says it's particularly unfortunate, given the love and compassion that father Harvey demonstrates.

The ESC issued the following statement today.

"In a society saturated with news of brutal crimes, a crime without the level of vicious physical assault that has become all too commonplace, jolted the citizenry.

Adventists: Attack on Father Harvey an 'onslaught on God himself'

The Seventh-Day Adventists Church Community has joined the voices of other religious bodies, politicians and concerned citizens in condemning the brutal attack on Catholic priest, Fr Clyde Harvey, at St. Martin de Porres Church on Monday.

In a statement today, the church says it sees this not as an assault on a mere religious leader, but a direct onslaught on God Himself.

PM condemns attack of Father Clyde Harvey

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has condemned the attack on Roman Catholic priest Fr Clyde Harvey this morning.

Dr Rowley issued a statement describing the attack as "despicable".

"The attack on Father Clyde Harvey by able-bodied, gun-toting men sadly represents the worst that exists within our communities.

Notwithstanding what difficulties one may be facing in life there are limits beneath which the human form should not sink.

Father Harvey robbed in church

Roman Catholic priest Father Clyde Harvey has been robbed.

Around 6am, Father Harvey was at the St Martin’s RC Church, Gonzales where he is also the parish priest, when three gunmen entered the building and announced a hold-up.

The bandits tied up Father Harvey, ransacked the presbytery and took $1000, a mobile phone and other items from the church before making their escape. \

The assailants also threatened to kill the priest.

Harvey is the chairman of three non-government organisations and is known for his work with youth.
