Widespread flooding in Radix Village, Mayaro today affecting 20 homes and a cemetery, after someone broke a dam in the area.
Thousands of gallons of water flooded the road and completely inundated the Radix cemetery as the Fire Services and the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) rushed into action.

Member of Parliament for Mayaro, Rushton Paray explained what had happened on a Facebook post.
Five fire officers were electrocuted while trying to rescue persons trapped in flood waters in Barataria.
Four were treated and discharged, one remains warded.
Injures ranged from cuts and bruises about the body while the officer warded suffered more serious injuries.
This took place after a ladder being used came into contact with a high tension wire.

The Met Office has issued the following statement with regard to flooding today.
"The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service is issuing a riverine flood alert for Trinidad, having regard to this most recent rainfall activity associated with the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) over the last 18 hours.
As oppose to Street and Flash Flooding, Riverine Flooding is more prolong and widespread.
