Sweden beat Brazil to reach final women Olympic football

Sweden ended Brazil's women's dreams of a first Olympic football gold medal on Tuesday with a 4-3 penalty shoot-out win to book their place in the gold medal match.

Cristiane, the Olympics' all-time top scorer, and Andressa saw spot-kicks saved by Hedvig Lindahl after neither side could score a goal in 120 minutes.

Lisa Dahlkvist converted the winning penalty to secure a place in the final and Sweden's first women's football Olympic medal.

Sweden had previously knocked out world powerhouse the USA prior to this game.

T&T moves up in FIFA football rankings

Trinidad and Tobago men's football team has gained six points and moved up in the latest FIFA football ranking.

This country is now ranked 58th out of 205 countries.

Jamaica is the only other Caribbean country ahead of T&T, with a ranking of 55.

The latest ranking has seen some major shuffle in the table, as Wales gained 15 points to climb into the 11th spot, ahead of England at 13th.

France rose to 7th on the table, while Euro champs Portugal climbed to 6th.

Both Brazil and Spain dropped two points to finish 8th and 9th respectively.

Kenwyne Jones calls for support vs SVG tomorrow

National football captain, Kenwyne Jones is appealing to citizens to turn out in their numbers at tomorrow's World Cup Qualifier against St Vincent and the Grenadines at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

Jones says the team was not at their best when they defeated St Vincent and the Grenadines 3-2 in St Vincent on Friday but says they want to rewrite history on the road to Russia.

Brazil crush T&T Women Soca Warriors 11-0

Five goals for the best female player of all time, Marta, as Brazil trounced Trinidad and Tobago's Women Soca Warriors by 11 goals to nil in the second game of the International Women’s Football Tournament hosted in the city of Natal.

The Soca Warriors were completed outdone as Brazil raced to a 4-nil lead at the end of the 1st half. They added five goals in just 18 minutes of the second half to move to 9-nil as they scored at will, eventually ending at 11 without reply at the Arena das Dunas.
