Man accused of Gabriella Du Barry’s murder sent for psychiatric evaluation

The man accused of killing Gabriella Du Barry at her Fyzabad home last Thursday, has been sent for a psychiatric evaluation at the St Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital.

Vishal Birju, a PH driver of Pepper Village, Fyzabad appeared before Magistrate Ava Vandenberg-Bailey at the Siparia Magistrates Court this morning.

The court heard that on Thursday 9th January, Birju murdered Du Barry. He was not called upon to plead as the charge was laid indictably.

Fyzabad man charged with murder

A Fyzabad man is expected to appear before a Siparia Magistrate, charged with the murder of Neathasingh Ramsingh which occurred on Monday 4th February, 2019.

Bickram Balkissoon, 51, of Lumtack Hill, was charged with murder, following advice received from Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Angelica Teelucksingh on Saturday.

Ramsingh, 51, a straightener, of South Oropouche, was at St. John Village, Avocat, on Monday 4th February, 2019, when he got into an altercation with a man.

Murder in Fyzabad

A man has been shot and killed in Fyzabad.

According to police reports Kendell Cooper also known as "Biggy Boy" was accosted by a gunman at Easy Street last evening.

An altercation ensued and Cooper was subsequently shot during the fracas.

Reports also suggest another person was injured during the incident.

Officers of the Fyzabad Police Station are continuing investigations


WASA: Heavy rainfall affects supply in North Trinidad

The Water and Sewerage Authority advises customers that heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has impacted operations at some of its water treatment facilities.  
Several of the Water Treatment Plants throughout North Trinidad were shut down due to various issues including turbid river conditions, clogged intake screens and power failures.
The Water Treatment Plants affected are: 
-Sans Soucci
-Luengo & Naranjo and

Fyzabad couple arrested for homemade gun

A Fyzabad couple is arrested after two homemade shotguns and one cartridge were seized by officers of the Fyzabad and Oropouche CIDs.
The arrests were made during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the district on Wednesday morning. 
The officers conducted the exercise around 5:20 am during which they executed a search warrant at the Lake Road, South Oropouche home of a 39-year-old driver and his 23-year-old common-law wife. 
During the search, the two firearms and one 12 gauge cartridge were discovered in the bedroom of the house. 


Fyzabad teen missing

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is seeking the urgent assistance of the public in locating 16-year-old Aaliyah Thomas.

Aaliyah was last seen by her mother at her New City, Fyzabad home around 6 pm on Saturday 9th June, 2018.

She was reported missing to the Fyzabad Police Station, on Sunday 10th June, 2018, by her mother, Yeamragie Thomas.

Aaliyah is of mixed descent, 5 feet 4 inches tall, with a stocky build, dark brown complexion and a scar under her right eye.

Police seek help in identifying bullet-riddled body found in Fyzabad

Police are asking members of the public for their assistance in identifying a man whose bullet-riddled body was discovered Tuesday evening in Fyzabad.

According to reports, the body was discovered around 3 pm near one of Petrotrin’s oil wells near Forest Reserve Road, Fyzabad.

The body appeared to be that of an East-Indian male in his 60s and had been shot at least twice.

A shotgun was also allegedly found next to the body of the deceased.
